The Book of Numbers is the fourth book of the Hebrew Bible and the Christian Old Testament, and it continues the story of the Israelites after their exodus from Egypt and the giving of the Law at Mount Sinai. Its Hebrew title, Bemidbar, means "in the wilderness," which accurately reflects the book's central theme: Israel's 40-year journey through the wilderness on their way to the Promised Land.

[00:00:00] It. [00:00:31] Hey, good evening everyone. Welcome to TRIM Radio Network. In life, walk with Christ God. [00:00:37] As always, I always start off by letting you know we have a wonderful variety of shows on here and you know, you want to be a part of that team or whatever and do podcasts and everything else. Go to the station trimradio.com and you're going to see links and you're going to see everything else so that you can, you could do that. We'd love to have more shows on and you know, just enjoy it. Anyway, today in King James we're going to read about numbers and we're going to be on numbers one. [00:01:08] That is page 162, King James Bible. And before we get into it, what is numbers? What is numbers? Well, there's a survey of numbers and we're going to get into that a little bit. [00:01:23] God has already laid out all the groundwork for the Israelites and he's laid it out to him and he's told them the rules, how you're going to handle day to day things, what is expected. [00:01:36] And he has laid this right on the line to them and told them, you're going to handle this exactly as I tell you. [00:01:44] And of course they're stiff necked people. [00:01:47] So all his laws, all that groundwork has been done. Now we're getting into where we are going to find out exactly who's who. He's going to take a census of all the males which are going to be 20 years and up according to their families, their, their tribes, the 12 people that are going to be in charge, the names of those that are in there. I'm going to kind of skip over the names a little bit because me mispronouncing them or not saying them correctly is, well, that it's, to me it's, it's insulting to God. But we'll get into the families because I know Gad and Asher and all the different families. Naftali. [00:02:35] But anyway, what is numbers? Let's get into a quick description of what everything is. [00:02:42] So in numbers, the nations go through the painful process of testing their maturity and we're going to know this, his people, the consequences of irresponsible decisions. The 40 years of wilderness experience transforms them into a rabble of ex slaves, into a nation ready to take the promised land. [00:03:07] And as we get on, there's an old generation and a new generation because the old generation is going to die off from wandering in the desert for 40 years. Why? Well, because they rebelled and, and mostly it's going to Be at Kadesh marks the, the marks the pivotal point of the book. [00:03:26] The generations of the Exodus will not be the generation of the conquest because of their rebellion right there. [00:03:35] So let's get into it without further ado. [00:03:40] And we are on the first census of Israel. And the Lord spoke unto Moses in the wilderness of Sinai in the tabernacle of the congregation. And what is the tabernacle again? Well, that is God's most holy of holy grounds here on earth. [00:03:59] Not. He's already got his holy ground in heaven, his throne, and it's in its heavens. You'll read throughout the Bible, it's heavens, not heaven, but, but heavens plural. [00:04:10] So he's already got that established and now he's got his holy of holiest grounds here in the tabernacle. What's in there? Well, the, the Commandments, ten Commandments, we know, the Ark of the Covenant, also known as the judgment seat. [00:04:28] Okay, he's going to have a group of people that are going to be responsible for taking care of the tabernacle, the Levites. And then he's going to have the twelve tribes of Israel armies. [00:04:44] And these people will be. And they're list as armies ready for war. [00:04:51] And as we go through, we're going to see that over and over and over again. Ready for war. [00:04:59] They have many jobs and why do they have to be ready for war? Well, they're going into a land. [00:05:06] God is going to drive a lot of them out, but they have to be ready for the war for the people that have not followed God, have not obeyed his commands at all. We're have every opportunity to do this and yet they worship, you know, astropoles, they, they molech and all these different things. [00:05:28] And God is not happy with them and he's going to wipe them out. [00:05:34] In order to do that, he has to have these armies. Well, he could do it with the snap of a finger, but he's going to have these armies from his choicen and anointed people, and they're going to do it. [00:05:50] So let's get on to how this goes now. [00:05:54] So we're at verse two. Take ye the sum of all the congregations of the children of Israel, after their families, by the house of their fathers, with the number of their names, every male by their polls, by the census, from 20 years old and upward, all that are able to go forth to war in Israel. [00:06:18] You and Aaron shall number them by their armies, and with you there shall be a man of every tribe, everyone head of the house of his fathers. So what he's saying is for every tribe, the 12 tribes of Israel, there's going to be one man that is in charge of that tribe. [00:06:38] So of the tribes of Gad and the tribes of Asher, have the tribes of Naphtali F, the tribes of Joseph of, of Manasseh and so on, one person is going to be in charge of each tribe. [00:06:57] So as we get on, as the Lord, you know, these are the princes I'm going to pass by. Like I said, the names because I don't want to mess up the names. I just, I, you know, it bothers me in my heart when I do because I can't pronounce them. [00:07:16] These were the renowned. The renowned of the generation, princes of the tribes of the fathers, heads of thousands of Israel. [00:07:29] And Moses and Aaron took these men which are expressed by their names and they all assemble them, the, the clans. This is the clans and they assemble them, all the congregations together. [00:07:41] On the first day of the second month, they declared their predic pedigrees after their families by the house of their fathers according to the number of their names from 20 years old and upward by their polls, as the Lord commanded Moses. So he numbered them in the witnesses of Sinai and the children of Reuben of Israel's eldest son. [00:08:06] And, and if you're remembering this, when we went back in Genesis, Jacob's sons, and how did we get to that point of Jacob's sons? Because before it was Isaac that had Jacob so. And before that Abraham had Isaac so. And we saw everything that was going on when, when you, you know, Jacob was born, hanging on to his brother's leg and all the conflict and everything. But anyway, getting ahead, the, the 12 tribes, these are the, the sons of. Of Jacob here which form the 12 tribes. So let's get in here. [00:08:53] So he numbered him in the wilderness of Sinai, the children of Reuben, eldest son, those that were numbered of them, even the tribe of Reuben were 40 and 6,000 and 500. [00:09:07] And it's important remember the numbers because all together, these are all the people that are ready for war, that can fight the wars, be ready for war and everything else. This is a huge, huge group and number of men ready for war of this, of the children of Simon by their generations, after their families, by the house of them, according to the numbers of the names by their polls, every male from 20 years old and upward that were able to go forth to war, those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Simeon were 50 and 9,003, 300 of the children of Gad by Their generations after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the numbers of their names, from 20 years and upward, all that were able to go forth to war. [00:10:10] And you'll notice that every time to go forth to war. And we saw before armies, they're going to protect the tabernacle, they're going to protect the Levites and everything else. But we're gonna, we're going to come up to that. It's really co how that is going to go. So here we go. Of those that were numbered, of them even of the tribe of GAD were 40 and 5650. Of the children of Judah by their generations after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names from 20 years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war, those that were numbered of them, even if the tribe of Judah were three score and 400,006 and 600 of the children of Ishkar by their generations after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names from 20 years old and upward, all that were 20 years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war, those that were numbered of them even of the tribe of Ishakar, isha, Ishkar were 50 and 4000 and 400. [00:11:27] Of the children of Zebulon by their generations after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of their names, from 20 years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war of those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Zebulon were 50 and 7,000 and 400. Of the children of Joseph, namely the children of Ephraim, by their generations after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of their names, from 20 years old and upward, and all that were able to go forth to war of those numbered of them, even of the tribe of Ephraim were 40,000 and 500. Of the children of Manasseh by their generations after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of their names, from 20 years old and upward, all that were able to go forth the war those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Manasseh were 30 and 2000 and 200. Of the children of Benjamin by their generations after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of their names, from 20 years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war of those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Benjamin were 30 and 5,000 and 400 of the children of Dan by their generations after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of their names from 20 years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war. [00:13:06] Of those that were numbered of them even of the tribe of Dan were 3 score and 2000 and 600. [00:13:13] Of the children of Asher by their generations after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of names from 20 years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war, those that were numbered of them even of the tribe of Asher were 40 and 1000 and 500 of the children of Naphtali throughout their generations after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names from 20 years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war. Of those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Naphtali were 50 and 3000 and 400 those that are numbered which Moses and Aaron and the princes of Israel being 12 men each was for the house of his father. And you have to understand where. Well, that's Jacob, you know. So all these things form. So it's. It's really cool. And they are the leaders. These people are the leaders. [00:14:19] And it's exploded from the children. And you can see how. How it's went from these 12 children into wow, all of them. So here. So here we go. Let's look. Let's. We're on numbers two, we're on verse 45. [00:14:34] So were all those that numbered of the children of Israel by the house of their fathers from 20 years old and upward that were able to go to for go forth the war in Israel. [00:14:46] And you'll notice in Israel. [00:14:48] So that is where we're going to. To set everything going through Canaan and everything else. When they get into the promised land, it's determined, it's already set and they're already ready for war. [00:15:05] And they know the rules, they know the consequences of their decisions that were is going to be pointed out here in numbers. But God has all these things. The plan, God's ultimate plan is unfolding right before our eyes. And we're going to see that God throughout this is going to be a just God, a loving God, a gracious God, but he's also going to be a God that is going to punish them rightfully so, justly so. [00:15:37] And he can be brought to wrath. [00:15:40] We can wax God hot, which is not good, but we could redo it even all day that were numbered 600,000 3550. That's a lot. [00:15:56] To give you an idea about how that is, that's pretty much what back in the day, I was in the military, we had around 500 to 800,000 people in just the Navy alone. [00:16:11] So this gives you from back way before then, at the very beginning, 600,000 is just wow. [00:16:22] You know, it leaves you in awe when you think about that. [00:16:27] But the Levites, after the tribe of their fathers, were not numbered among them. [00:16:32] For the Lord had spoken unto Moses saying, thou shall not number the tribe of Levi, neither take the sum of them among the children of Israel, but thou shalt appoint the Levites over the tabernacle of Testimony. [00:16:48] Testimony. And over the vessels, therefore, and over all things that belong to it. [00:16:55] They shall bear the tabernacle, and all the vessels thereof, they shall minister unto it and shall encamp around about the the tabernacle. And when the tabernacle set it forward, the Levites shall take it down. And when the tabernacle is to be pitched, the Levi's shall set it up. And the stranger that cometh near shall be put to death. [00:17:19] God has set aside these people to protect it. [00:17:23] What is protecting them? The 12 tribes. [00:17:28] If you come near that tabernacle, understand something, you will be put to death. [00:17:34] These Levitical priests are in charge of ministering to it. [00:17:40] We already know Aaron and his sons and Moses are directly in contact with the Lord. [00:17:48] And therefore they're responsible for every single thing that is in the tabernacle. They will carry it. They will bear that burden. [00:17:57] They will bear that responsibility. [00:18:00] These aren't people that go to war. These are people that protect, watch over, take care of, responsible for the tabernacle. God's most holy of holy. [00:18:12] And it's needed to be done. [00:18:16] And the children of Israel shall pitch their tents. Every man by his own camp and every man by his own standard throughout their hosts. But the Levites shall pitch round about the tabernacle of Testimony, that there'll be no wrath upon the congregation of the children of Israel. And the Levites shall keep charge of the tabernacle of Testimony. And the children of Israel did to all that the Lord commanded, Moses. [00:18:47] So they did. [00:18:49] Or so did they. [00:18:52] This is where we are going to get into. [00:18:54] We're going to do things just a little bit different. [00:18:59] And the reason I did this was, if you remember, a couple of weeks ago, we had to go upward towards Isaiah and another book to bring you back to the understanding of some of Leviticus, which was really cool. And the Bible has over 60,000 cross references back forth, forward. [00:19:23] I mean, it's incredible and it's wonderful, to tell you the truth. It's just the Bible is its own miracle. And so we're gonna, we're gonna start reading from the New Testament at the same time we're doing the Old Testament to make up a little ground for me being sick, being out. And I. We need to kind of stay on track. So in order to do that, we're going to try to give up right around 20, 25 minutes on one and then go to the other one. So I'm kind of getting to that peak because I like to stay just under about an hour. But we're going to stop here at chapter two. [00:20:07] Right here in chapter two. And that'll be page 164. I'm going to put my date on there. [00:20:14] Seven one. I can't believe it's July already, guys. [00:20:20] The year's flying through. We're already halfway through it. [00:20:23] Anyway, let's go on up here to Matthew. [00:20:26] So. [00:20:30] And Matthew is a very, it's actually a really cool book. And I love all the books of the Bible. [00:20:40] Matthews just really is a wonderful, wonderful book. One of the many that I love. And I love them all. Don't get me wrong, I don't pick one more than the other, but I, you know, I, I enjoy so much reading all of them. But Matthew's one of those books. It's really, really cool. It's at the beginning of the New Testament and I'm gonna go right into Matthew. Talks about all of what leads up to the generations that lead up from Abraham up to David, from David to where they were taken into Babylon, and from Babylon until the birthing of Christ. [00:21:27] So I'm going to skip that part again and we're going to get into it. [00:21:33] So we're going to start off on verse 17, page 1060. [00:21:37] So all the generations from Abraham to David are 14 generations. And from David unto carry to the carrying away to Babylon are 14 generations. And from the carrying weight to Babylon unto Christ are 14 generations. [00:21:55] Now, the birth of Christ of Jesus Christ was on this wise. This is how it happened when his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, dedicated with, ready to be married to, promised to before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost. [00:22:15] Now, Joseph doesn't know this yet, but here he is. She's saying she loves him and you have to put yourself in in their shoes. And Joseph loves her and she's pregnant. [00:22:29] And you can see how this will Lay upon Joseph, I. I can't imagine. Here's this girl I'm going to marry and she's pregnant. Well, how does that happen? [00:22:43] That she must have been unfaithful or untrue to me, but we're going to find out. Let's see how that happened then. Joseph, her husband being just a man and not willing to make her a public example, he's protecting her too. [00:23:05] Put her away privately. [00:23:08] So, you know, secretly he's not going to embarrass her. He loves her, so he's not going to do that. [00:23:18] I'm sure that he's still trying to figure all this out how she's pregnant, but he is in love with her. So right away he's not really thinking of himself. He is thinking about secretly keeping this hidden so that it's not going to be called into question. Because back then you wrote a. [00:23:38] A writ of divorce for stuff like this. So let's see what happens now. [00:23:44] But wow, you know, but while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream and saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take thee, Mary, thy wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. [00:24:09] And she shall bring forth the Son and shall call his name Jesus, for he shall save his people from their sins. [00:24:18] Okay, so now you're hearing Jesus, right? And you're probably already arguing to yourself, well, that's not what they called. [00:24:25] Hang on, hang on. It gets better. Okay, now all this was done that it might be fulfilled, which was spoken of the Lord by the prophets from long ago. Isaiah has us in there. As a matter of fact, it's. I believe, Isaiah 43 and 43 through like 50. [00:24:45] It's absolutely wonderful. [00:24:47] I'm doing a new thing now, and it's. And it's really cool. [00:24:51] You have to go into Isaiah and read that. But we'll get there as we read along in the Old Testament and the New Testament together. [00:25:00] Okay? [00:25:02] So behold, the virgin shall be with child and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which means God with us. [00:25:16] So when Joseph, being raised from sleep, did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, told him to do, and took him, and took unto him his wife, and he knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son, and he called his name Jesus, same thing as Emmanuel. [00:25:38] So before everyone freaks out on that, that's exactly what it is. Emmanuel is Jesus, but Emmanuel is God with us. [00:25:49] It has that double meaning, which is cool. And why is it like that? God with us? [00:25:56] Because God has taken a part of God, Christ and put him on earth not only to be with us, but to fulfill everything that needs to be filled. According to the prophets from long ago. I mean, David knew, Solomon knew, Isaiah knew, Jeremiah knew all of them knew Elijah, Elijah. [00:26:20] You know, it's really cool. They all saw this coming. [00:26:25] You know, he's been very open about this, very transparent to everybody. [00:26:33] So when it says God with us. Yeah, right here, going through the same thing you and I go through day after day, you know, temptations and. And all the things that come with it, you know, so he's experiencing all this, but he's also showing that he is right here next to us, protecting us, walking beside us, leading the way. [00:27:00] So it's. It. It has a double meaning. There's a parallelism there, a lot of theology, theological thought behind it, and it's poetically written, which I love. [00:27:11] So let's go. [00:27:13] Chapter two. [00:27:15] Now, when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea, in the days of Herod the king, and keep that in mind. The king, right. [00:27:25] Behold, there came wise men, magi, from the east of Jerusalem, saying, where is he that is born king of the Jews? [00:27:36] They knew, and right off the bat, where is the king of the Jews who is born king of the Jews? [00:27:46] He has no kingdom, he has no armies ready for war, as we saw back in Numbers one. [00:27:56] And yet he is a king. [00:27:59] And I want you to keep all this in mind because they've named him as a king, and you can imagine how Herod now feels. But let's get into this. [00:28:11] When Herod the king had heard these things, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him. [00:28:19] Think everybody in Jerusalem was troubled by that? No, I think people, some were overjoyed and excited, you know, because it was spoken of of the prophets. [00:28:30] And they're putting this together quick. [00:28:33] But Herod sees this is going to take away the power, the authority and everything of all these groups, the Sanhedrin, the Saddies, the Pharisees, all of them is going to come tumbling down. [00:28:52] So let's continue on. [00:28:55] And when he had gathered all the chief priests and the scribes of the people together, he demanded of them where Christ should be born. [00:29:05] And they said unto him, in Bethlehem of Judea. For thus it is written by the prophet, and though Bethlehem in the land of Judah are not the least among the princes of Judah, for out of thee shall come a governor that shall rule my people Israel. [00:29:29] He's a king and he's a Governor. [00:29:32] And he's going to be a leader, and everything's going to. He's going to carry everything upon his shoulder. Law, forgiveness, love. [00:29:43] Just every single thing. [00:29:46] And no armies, okay? Not one army. So here we go. [00:29:53] Then Herod, when he had privately called the wise men, inquired of them diligently what time the star appeared. [00:30:02] And he sent them to Bethlehem and said, go and search diligently for the young child that when you have found him, bring me word again that I may come and worship him also. [00:30:15] And when they heard the king, they departed. And lo, the star which they saw in the east went before them till it came and stood over where the young child was. [00:30:26] And when they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceedingly great joy. [00:30:32] And it's really cool. [00:30:34] So. [00:30:37] And when they came unto the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down and worshiped him. And when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts of gold and frankincense and. And myrrh. [00:30:52] And being warned of God in a dream that they should not return to Herod, they departed into their own country another way. [00:31:02] So when Herod had told them, hey, look, let me know where the. You know, where this, this, this prince, this king of the Jews is, so I may come and worship him. A king going to worship another king when we already know he's troubled because of everything that is going on. And the Sanhedrin, the sages, the Pharisees, they're all troubled. [00:31:28] So he has an evil intent here. [00:31:31] Hence God warns the magi. The magi and says, listen, don't go back that way. [00:31:38] Go a different way. [00:31:40] So let's see what happens. [00:31:43] And when they were departed, behold the angel. Lord appeareth unto Joseph in a dream, saying, arise and take the young child and his mother and flee into Egypt. And thou be there until I bring thee word. The reason that he did this was King Herod has, like, maybe like a. [00:32:04] A governor, a mayor. [00:32:07] You know, mayors can rule within their city, right? They can make decisions and enforce and do everything within their cities. But then you have a governor that handles their state. [00:32:17] Herod has a jurisdiction also by Joseph taking Mary at God's command. [00:32:25] The angel. It doesn't matter if it's God. God sends the angel. So it is still God's command to flee to Egypt. [00:32:33] Herod does not have that reach. [00:32:37] He is out of his jurisdiction. His word means nothing. [00:32:43] So in this way, he has protected Christ. [00:32:52] For Herod will seek the young child to destroy him. And when he arose he took the young child and his mother by night and departed into Egypt. [00:33:02] And there was until the death of Herod that it might be fulfilled which was spoken out of the Lord by the prophet. [00:33:09] Out of Egypt I have called my son. [00:33:15] What does God mean by that? Out of Egypt I have called my son. [00:33:21] God is already acknowledging right away. [00:33:26] We. We saw it first in. In, you know, Matthew 1, that the Holy Spirit is what got Mary impregnated. [00:33:35] Number two. Now we're here, God saying himself out of Egypt, I have called my son. [00:33:42] Now we know that Christ is in God. God is in Christ. How do we know that? Well, we're gonna. When we get along here in this, this book, the book of Matthew, you're going to see it. It's going to be very distinct. [00:33:57] So when Christ makes that announcement, understand, he can say that real simply because God has already said it before through the prophets. [00:34:11] And we already know with the prophets, everything is being fulfilled. You can see the timelines, you can see the wording. Exactly. So let's. Let's move on. [00:34:22] Then Herod, when he saw that he was mocked of the wise men, tricked, was exceedingly wroth, and sent forth and slew all the children that were in Bethlehem, in all the coasts thereof, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had diligently inquired of the wise men. This was what to fulfill, which was spoken by Jeremy the prophet, saying, in Ra, there was a voice heard lamentation and weeping and great mourning. Rachel weeping for her children and would not be comforted because they are not. [00:35:04] Because he killed them. [00:35:06] So. [00:35:07] And you're seeing this in Jeremiah and, and it's wonderful, but here we go. Jesus returns to Nazareth. [00:35:16] But when Herod was dead, behold, an angel of the Lord spoketh in a dream to Joseph in Egypt, saying, arise, take the young child and his mother and go into the land of Israel, for they are dead. Which sought the young child's life. [00:35:33] And he arose and took the child, took the young child and his mother and came into the land of Israel. And. But when he heard that Archelaus did reign in Judea, in the room of his father, he was next in line, and he took over. [00:35:53] And being warmed of God in a dream, he turned aside into parts of Galilee, and then came and dwelt in a city called Nazareth, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophets. He shall be called a Nazarene. [00:36:12] It's really cool. I mean, when you think about it, you are seeing different prophets at that different, different time from Judges To. To going back to, you know, Jeremiah, to Isaiah, to all these different prophets. And all these things are coming true to a T. [00:36:35] So it's really cool how this is unfolding. And I'm sorry we got a late start tonight, guys. I thought I clicked this button when I began this, and evidently I made a mistake somewhere. So this is my second time going over this, but second time's always the best. Anyway, next week we're going to get into chapter three, the person of John the Baptist. And as a matter of fact, let's just go through it real quick. We got time. It's 8:43, so let's go through it real quick anyway, because I enjoy this book too. In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judea and saying, repent ye, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. [00:37:22] But Malachi says this, but for this is he that was spoken by the prophet Elias, saying, the voice of one crying in the wilderness, prepare ye the way of the Lord and make his paths straight. [00:37:39] At the same, John had his raiment of camel's hair and a leather girl or belt around his loins, and his meat was locusts and wild honey. That's all he had. John never had a fermented drink. [00:37:53] John never, never did any of those things. It's. It's really wonderful. [00:37:59] Then they went out to Jerusalem, all of Judea, in the region, round about Jordan, and were baptized of him in Jordan, confessing their sins. [00:38:12] But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sagitties come to the baptism, he said unto them, o generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come. [00:38:27] Bring forth, therefore, fruits to meet for your repentance, things that are sustainable, things that you need to do anyway, and think not to say to yourselves within yourselves, we have Abraham to our Father. For I say unto you that God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham. And now also the ax is laid into the root of the trees. Therefore every tree which bringeth forth not good fruit is hewn down and cast into the fire. [00:39:05] I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance. [00:39:14] John answers this question and he says, with water. [00:39:18] But listen to what he says after this. So you're going to see a very distinction of, of John making the way for Christ. [00:39:27] And then something wonderful is going to happen. So here we go. [00:39:31] But he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear. And he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost. And with fire, whose fan is in his hand, and he will thoroughly purge his floor and gather his wheat into well to garner but the barn, but will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire. [00:39:59] The thing about this again then is, is you'll notice a lot of things have to do with the feet. [00:40:07] They have to do with washing of the feet. This is Old Testament as well. You heard the angel in the burning bush, take off your sandals, for you are standing on hallowed ground, holy ground of God. [00:40:23] And of course, now being able to walk with Christ, it's important to have clean feet. And you're going to see this and Christ is going to do something at the Last Supper. And I can't wait till we get to that part. But. [00:40:41] And it's so important too, unless I do this, you know, for you, it could not be a part of me, but this is. They always were fixated with washing their feet through the whole Bible. It was really, really cool. [00:40:55] So, but you'll start to see it. It's this wonderful in alignment, this, this parallelism there. And, and you're going to see it. It's, you know, the theology behind it is wonderful. But now let's get on. [00:41:12] Then cometh Jesus from gap from Galilee to Jordan unto John to be baptized of him. But John forbid him, saying, I need to be baptized by you, and cometh thou unto me. And Jesus answered, saying unto him, suffer it to be so now, for thus becomes it. It benefits us to fulfill all righteousness. So John agrees to this. And he suffered him. And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water, and lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the spirit of God descending like a dove lighting upon him. [00:42:00] And lo, a voice from heaven saying, this is my beloved Son, in who I am well pleased. [00:42:08] He is making this known. [00:42:13] Not an angel, not any of these other religious people, but God. [00:42:23] This is my Son, in whom I am well pleased. [00:42:28] God's Son, a part of God. [00:42:32] And just wait till we get to the book of John and you're going to understand exactly what that is, because in Matthew, it's going to. Christ is going to explain what he is also, but in a whole different interpretation of how John sees it. [00:42:49] It's really cool though, because both of them, it actually works out together wonderfully. [00:42:56] And you're going to see from. [00:42:59] Even in the Old Testament, God mentions his spirituality. [00:43:05] And in the New Testament, Christ mentioned spirituality. And we have all these different religions out there. [00:43:11] Okay? [00:43:13] But there's a difference between Christianity and spiritual Christianity. And you might say, okay, what is the difference of that? Well, it's simple and, and I've fallen into both these categories because the first time I believe in Christ, all of these people believe in Christ, understand something. [00:43:35] Catholicism, Protestant, all of them do. Okay. [00:43:41] But in Christians, they, they like to think, okay, hey, this is wonderful. [00:43:46] You know, I'm a Christian, I believe this, I'm going to be forgiven for my sins. But the biggest difference that I find in a spiritual is that spiritually, when we have a relationship with Christ, we're doing it on his terms. [00:44:03] Christianity is doing it on their terms. And what do I mean by that? Well, God, I have time for you on Sunday from 10:00am till 12:00 clock and then, hey, I'll meet you again on Wednesday and I'll go from 7 to 8 o' clock in Bible study and then I'll see you again on Sunday. [00:44:22] In that way we are having a relationship and just regular Christianity with God. [00:44:29] But under our terms, in spiritual Christianity, I get up in the morning, I have my coffee, I read the Bible, I thank God. There's so many times during the day that, that I stop, I pray and do all these things and, and I want to get away and transform, transfigure myself from the first one to the next one where I am having a relationship on his terms. [00:45:00] That doesn't mean you won't sin. [00:45:02] It doesn't mean we won't make mistakes because we are flawed. [00:45:07] But it's God, I have time for you. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday. [00:45:13] Every day I've got time for you. [00:45:17] I need time for you because you are the one that gives me time. [00:45:24] So it is a different thought process. [00:45:28] It's really cool. But I, you know, going through that, it has changed me a lot because I was not doing it wrong, but not doing it in the right way. [00:45:44] You ever heard the, the saying that you could do everything 100 right and still get it wrong? And you could do everything 100 wrong and still get it right? [00:45:55] It, it's very much so in that, in that way, in this thing. I was trying to do everything, but I wasn't doing 100 right. [00:46:07] So I was getting it wrong, but I thought I was doing it 100 right in this way. I am probably still not doing it right a hundred percent, but I might get it right all the way because I believe in exactly what was told. Not because I believe in Christ, not because I believed. He rose on the third day from the dead, descended down into hell, awoken those that need to be and then ascended up into heaven. [00:46:41] But because I want to have a deeper relationship also with what I believe. [00:46:48] And those are the things that are true, that we know for fact. So keep that in mind. [00:46:54] Give more time, because he gives you time and he doesn't need to. [00:47:03] So keep that in mind. Anyway, guys, I hope you have a wonderful, wonderful week. [00:47:09] May be a blessing to you and thank you for tuning in. So we're on. [00:47:16] We are on chapter four, page 1061. [00:47:23] And I'm going to put this right here. [00:47:26] And that is on Matthew. And we're on numbers too. So we're going to hit it again next week and enjoy it. [00:47:35] And I encourage you every day. Try to remember, I'm not a priest. I'm not a deacon, I'm not a rabbi, I'm not clergy, I'm not a bishop. I'm nobody. I'm just a regular person that loves to enjoy the Bible, see it in my interpretation. I'd love to hear yours. [00:47:55] I'd love to hear that. And if you ever have a question about the Bible, please go and see one of them and ask those questions. Because even I would like to learn and hear the different things. [00:48:07] But I. It brings me so much peace and I hope it does you too, and joy. So till next week. Catch you guys later. God bless. Thank you. I am grateful that you were here.
