[00:00:01] Sa.
[00:00:31] Hey, guys. Welcome to Life Walk Christ, God. And I'll tell you what we are on.
[00:00:38] Well, first of all, we're page 49, King James, and it is Genesis, chapter 37. And that's where we're at. So we're going to look forward to that right now and enjoy it. I'm looking forward to it. So happy Sunday to everyone. I hope you all had a wonderful, wonderful Thanksgiving. I know that we did, and we're looking forward to it. I'm trying to get myself centered here.
[00:01:07] Absolutely wonderful time, family, friends, everything like that. But let's dive right on in and we're going to be talking about Joseph's family sins against him.
[00:01:19] So we're going to see what's going on with Joseph. Now. We kind of went through the history of Esau and all the dukes, all the children, everything like that. It kind of gets you a little bit off track. We already know Rachel, you know, the deaths of Rachel and Isaac. So here we are kind of back in it with Jacob and the kids. So let's get to it and joke. Jacob dwelt in the land wherein his father was a stranger, in the land of Canaan.
[00:01:54] These are the generations of Jacob. Joseph, being 17 years old, was feeding the flock with his brethren when the lad was with the sons of Billa and with the sons of Zipha and the father's wives. And Joseph brought unto his father their evil report.
[00:02:15] So Joseph here is kind of the one in charge dealing with his brothers. After all, Leah is Jacob's absolute favorite. And you know, or I'm sorry, Rachel was Jacob's app. Absolute favorite. And then Leah.
[00:02:35] And of course Rachel gave birth to Jacob and Benjamin and Leah, well, those were the other boys. And of course then Billa and. And you know, Zilpah, you know, Zilla. Anyway, let's get to it. So these are the generations of Jacob. Joseph, being 17 years old, was feeding the flock with his brethren, and the lad was with the sons of Bella and with the sons of Zilla, the. His father's wives. And Joseph brought unto his father their evil report.
[00:03:17] So unsatisfactory. So this is going to cause kind of a problem here. And we already know this, this is going to cause a problem with Joseph and his brothers, but.
[00:03:30] And his step brothers, or however you want to put it. So now Israel loved Joseph more than all his children because he. He was the son of his old age. And he made him a coat of many colors, an important gift that, that Jacob had given to Joseph because like I said, absolutely in love with. With Rachel. And, you know, Laban had. Did him dirty and everything like that. But Joseph was his bright, shiny star.
[00:04:09] And when his brethren saw that their father loved him more than all his brethren, they hated him. Again, here's that conflict that we were talking about before and all throughout the Bible. Conflict and then reconciliation. But you could see how this goes. First of all, he's reporting to his father, hey, these guys are not doing what they're supposed to be doing.
[00:04:32] Why, they're, you know, out in the field taking care of things. It's not happening. Tending the flocks. So, you know, now, of course, Jacob makes him this. This coat of these different colors. So again, it's, you know.
[00:04:47] And was Joseph getting at his brothers a little bit? Maybe, but maybe not, you know, he's doing what his father asked him to do. So we'll see if that kind of comes into play here in a bit.
[00:05:01] And Joseph dreamed a dream, and he told his brethren, and they hated him yet the more.
[00:05:09] And he said unto them, here, I pray you, this dream which I have dreamed for. Behold, we were binding sheaves in the field. And lo, my sheaf arose and also stood upright. And behold, your sheaves stood around about and made obsessions to my sheaf bow down to.
[00:05:35] Is that going to kind of get their goat?
[00:05:39] And he's dreamed this dream.
[00:05:41] So he has visions and stuff like this, but is he saying this to kind of get their goat? I'm sure that he understands that they don't like him very much. So, you know. And of course, he knows that his father loves him the most. So maybe there's a little bit of getting at his brothers, maybe, but maybe not either. But we won't find out until later on. But at a young age and everything like that, brothers and sisters do that kind of thing. Tease each other, razz each other and do that. So we'll just say, yes, he is.
[00:06:24] And his brother said to him, shalt thou indeed reign over us, or shalt thou indeed have dominion over us? And they hated him yet the more for his dreams and for his words.
[00:06:40] So, yeah, he's kind of getting their goat a little bit here.
[00:06:45] It sure is interpreted that way.
[00:06:49] And they were already jealous of them from the beginning. So, you know, Jacob has made it known. So I'm sure there's a little bit of heated action going on there and everything.
[00:07:01] And he dreamed yet another dream and told it to his brethren and said, behold, I have dreamed a dream more. And behold, the sun and the moon and the 11 stars made obsessance to me.
[00:07:18] And he told it to his father and to his brethren. And his father rebuked him and said unto him, what is this dream that thou has dreamed? Shall I, thy mother, and thy brethren indeed come to bow down ourselves to thee, to the earth?
[00:07:37] So Jacob, being a father, is now stepped in and said, what are you talking about here?
[00:07:45] Which makes you wonder, was he trying to get his brother's goats or not? You know, was he razzing him or not? Because now he's told his father this, and the father is now questioning him and rebuked him and said, what is this that you're. This nonsense that you're talking about here?
[00:08:03] And his brother, his brethren, envied him. But his father observed the saying. He took note of it.
[00:08:11] Jacob took note of it. You know, okay, I've said what I had to say. I am taking note of it.
[00:08:21] And Israel said unto Joseph, do thy brethren feed the flock in Shechem?
[00:08:32] Come, and I will seed, or I will send thee unto them. And he said to him, here I am. And there. And there we go again. There's that Hanini, that here I am. And. And we've seen this throughout it. And the Hebrew word for here I am.
[00:08:53] And Israel said unto Joseph, do not thy brethren feed the. Feed the flock, and Shechem come, and I will send thee unto them. And he said to him, here I am. And he said to him, go, I pray thee, see whether it be well with thy brethren and well with the flocks and bring me word again. So he sent him out of the veil of Heon and he came to Shechem.
[00:09:23] So he is following exactly what Jacob or Israel at this point is saying. He's doing what he's supposed to do. He's the steward. He's supposed to watch everything that his brethren are doing, making sure they're feeding the flock, tending the flock, doing everything they're supposed to do.
[00:09:46] So after he says this, and we're on verse 15, and a certain man found him. And behold, he was wandering in the field.
[00:09:53] And the man asked him, saying, what seekest thou? And he said, I seek my brethren.
[00:10:00] And he says, right here, he says, tell me, I pray thee, where they feed their flocks. And the man said, they are departed hence. For I heard them say, let us go to Doan. And Joseph went after his brethren and found them in Doan. So Jo. Joseph's going to make sure exactly. He's. He's to do what he's supposed to do. And you. You could see that now.
[00:10:30] So then we get into it over here and I apologize. Let me put this down just a little bit. So then we get it. Get into it over here.
[00:10:41] And when they saw him far off, even before he came near unto him, they conspired against him to slay him. So this anger has now really boiled over.
[00:10:55] And here we go. It's. It's to the point of the Cain and Abel type deal.
[00:11:03] So as he's coming up to him, they said. And they said to one another, behold, this dreamer cometh.
[00:11:14] So they're making fun of him a little bit too, okay? But they're tired of him. They're. They're. When you get to that point to where they want to slay him, they don't want him in the way any longer.
[00:11:29] As far as they're concerned, they've taken away. He's taken away the affection of their father.
[00:11:36] He reports to Israel, Jacob, he reports to him about. They're going on, what they're doing. Are they taking care of and doing the things, the stewardship they're supposed to be doing for Jacob or Israel, okay? And. And this is how this is playing out. And we'll just say Israel from now on in. Because really, that's what the angel said his name was going to be.
[00:12:02] Come now, therefore, and let us slay him and cast him into some pit. And we will say some evil beast has devoured him and we shall see what would become of his dreams.
[00:12:15] So they really took offense to his dreams and them having to bow down before him.
[00:12:24] And Reuben heard it, and he delivered him out of their hands and he said, let us not kill him.
[00:12:32] Reuben's got kind of his own problems here. He's laid with his father's concubine. And we know this.
[00:12:41] This has caused some serious issues anyway, but Reuben doesn't have that kind of heart. He knows nothing good is going to come to this. If we harm him, this is going to be bad. So he has, you know. And Reuben heard it and delivered him out of their hands and said, let us not kill him. He knows he's not happy with them either, but let's see how he handles it. And Reuben said unto them, shed no blood, but cast him into the pit that is in the wilderness and lay no hand upon him that he might rid him out of their hands to deliver him to his father again. And it came to pass when Joseph was coming to his brethren, that they stripped Joseph out of his coat, his coat of many colors that was on him.
[00:13:35] The coat is A source of anger. It's, It's. It's a symbol to them of Israel having more love for Joseph than any of them. So of course they're going to strip him of it. They're. They're. They're going to remove it.
[00:13:53] And they. And they took him and cast him into a pit. And the pit was empty. There was no water in it.
[00:14:00] And they sat down to eat bread. And they lifted up their eyes and looked. And behold, a company of Ishmaelites came from Gilead and their camels bearing spicy spicery and balm and myrrh, going to carry it down to Egypt.
[00:14:22] You know, their meals and stuff like this. So here we go. And Judah said unto his brethren, what profit is it if we slay our brother and conceal his blood?
[00:14:33] Come, let us sell him to the Ishmaelites. And let. Let not our hand be upon him, for he is our brother and our flesh.
[00:14:44] Well, that's kind of a different tone, but.
[00:14:49] And you know, here we go. It was Judah that said this, right?
[00:14:54] Isn't this kind of something that also happens in the future with Judas of Iscariot selling Jesus. I'm not going to lay a hand on him, but he's kind of sold them out. You. You could kind of see how these things are playing back and forth from Old Testament to New Testament, New Testament back to Old Testament, looking at the different meanings, depending on how you interpret the Bible, because it's open to so many different interpretations, but these are the things that, that I'm seeing and I'm sharing with you.
[00:15:26] So here we go. Verse 28. And then they're passed by the Midianites merchantmen and drew and lifted Joseph out of the pit and sold Joseph to The Ishmaelites for 20 pieces of silver. And they brought Joseph unto Egypt. And Reuben returned unto the pit. And behold, Joseph was not in the pit. And he rent his clothes.
[00:15:53] He knew. He, you know, tore his clothes and saw. He knew this was. How are we going to get out of this?
[00:16:02] What are we going to tell dad? What are we going to tell Israel?
[00:16:07] So and when he returned to his brethren and said, the child is not.
[00:16:14] And I, Whither shall I go?
[00:16:18] And they. They took Joseph's coat and killed a kid of the goats and dipped the coat in the blood, and they sent the coat of many colors, and they brought it to their father and said, this have we found.
[00:16:37] Know now whether it be thy son's coat or no.
[00:16:42] They know it's his coat.
[00:16:44] And of course, now they're trying to sell this, this fabricated lie to their father and they're putting him in all kinds of anguish instead of doing the right thing to begin with. And they've cost this. And he knew it and said, it is my son's coat. An evil beast has devoured him. Joseph is without doubt rent into pieces. It's been torn apart.
[00:17:15] Be it lion, be a bear, be it whatever, he is, no more. And Jacob and, and I find it very strange. They go, Israel, Jacob, Jacob, Israel, back and forth. But they do that. And I, you know, it's very interesting as to why. And Jacob run his clothes and put sackcloth upon his loins and mourned for his son many days.
[00:17:44] And his sons and all of his daughters rose up to comfort him. But he refused to be comforted. And he said, for I will go down into the grave unto my son mourning thus his father wept for him. This is, this is overwhelming grief because Jacob, Israel loved Joseph that much so. And the Midianites sold him unto Egypt under Potiphar, an officer of Pharaohs and the captain of the guard.
[00:18:21] So now Joseph has become a slave and here we are, here we go. He's in Egypt now and Potiphar, captain of the guards, is there, who's bought him. And Joseph's going to be enslaved to him.
[00:18:39] So chapter 38. And it came to pass at the time that Judah went down from his brethren and turned into a certain Adullamite, whose name was Hira.
[00:18:50] And Judah saw there a daughter of certain Canaanite whose name was Shura. And he took her and he went unto her.
[00:19:00] And she conceived and bear a son, and he called his name er.
[00:19:07] And she conceived again and bear a son. And she called his name Onan. And she conceived yet again, and she bear a son and called his name Selah or Sheila.
[00:19:24] And he was at Shazib when she bear him. And Judah took a wife for air, this first one his firstborn, whose son name was Tamar, or Tamar, however you want to pronounce it.
[00:19:43] And er, Judah's firstborn was wicked in the sight of the Lord. And the Lord slew him so, so evil that God interfered right away and slew him.
[00:19:59] And Judah said unto Onan, go in unto thy brother's wife and marry her and raise up seed to thy brother. And Onu knew that the seed should not be his. And it came to pass when, when he went in unto his brother's wife that he spilled it on the ground least that he should give seed to his brother.
[00:20:27] Very significant Here that. That while they were intimate that he made sure that his seed was spilt on the ground and not in her.
[00:20:44] So and this thing which he did displeased the Lord, wherefore he slew him also.
[00:20:56] God is the one who gives life. He decides who he's going to be merciful to, who he's going to have mercy for.
[00:21:06] It's not us. So when these things are supposed to happen and we take things into our own account, we enrage the father.
[00:21:17] And that's exactly what happened here.
[00:21:21] Onan enraged the father.
[00:21:25] Then Judah said to Tamar, his daughter in law, remain a widow at thy father's house till shella my son be grown. For he said, lest pre adventure he die also at his as his brethren did. And Tamar, Tamar went, went and dwelt in his father's house. And in the process of time the daughter of Shula, Judah's wife, died. And Judah was comforted and went up into the ship sheep shearers to Timna. And he and his friend Hira, the adult Adolamite.
[00:22:07] And it was told Tamar saying, behold, thy father in law goeth up to Timnath to shear his sheep.
[00:22:19] And she put her widow's garments off from her and covered her with a veil and wrapped herself and sat in an open place, which is by the way, Timna. For she saw that Sheila was grown and she was not given unto him to wife. When Judah saw her, he thought.
[00:22:45] He thought her to be a harlot because she covered her face.
[00:22:51] And when he turned unto by her unto her by the way, and said, go to, I pray thee, let me come into come unto thee. For he knew not that she was his daughter in law. And she said, what wilt thou give me that thou mayest come in unto me? And he said, I will send three.
[00:23:16] I will send thee a kid from the flock. And she said, what will thou give me a pledge till thou send it?
[00:23:26] And he said, what pledge shall I give thee? And she said, thy signet and thy bracelets and thy staff that is in thy hand. And he gave it to her and come unto her. And she conceived by him. Then she arose and went away, and laid by her, and laid by her veil from her, and put on the garments of her widowhood. And Judah sent the kid by the hand of his friend the Adulamite, to receive his pledge from the woman's hand. But he found her not. Then he asked the men of that place, saying, where's the harlot? That was openly by the Wayside. And they said there was no harlot in this place.
[00:24:13] And he returned to Judah, and he said, I cannot find her. And also the men of the place said that there was no harlot in this place. And Judith said, let her take. Let her take it to her least we be shamed. Behold, I sent this kid and. And thou has not found her. And it came to pass about three months after that it was told Judah saying, tamar, thy daughter in law hath played the harlot. And also, behold, she is with child by whoredom. And Judah said, bring her forth and let her be burnt. Now this is really going to cause a problem here because Judah has laid with his daughter in law, which just is not right. When she was brought forth, she sent to her father in law saying, by the man whose these are, I am with child. And she said, discern, I pray thee, whose these the signet and the bracelets and the staff. And Judah acknowledged them and said, she hath been more righteous than I, because I gave her not to Sheila, my son. And he knew her again, no more. So once he found out about this, he. He wasn't happy and wanted nothing else to do with her, but very deceptful.
[00:25:49] And you can see the deceit. And we're going to see that a lot. We're going to see there a lot. We've seen it with Laban, we've seen with Jacob and Laban. We've seen it with Laban, you know, sent in Leah instead of Rachel. We've seen it with Rebecca, with dealing with Isaac, you know, helping Jacob, deceiving Esau and Isaac. So this is going on a lot.
[00:26:21] And it came to pass when she travailed that the one put out his hand, and the. The midwife took and bound upon his hand a scarlet thread, saying, this came out first. And it came to back. Came to pass as he drew back his hand, that, behold, his brother came out. And she said, how has thou broken forth?
[00:26:48] Oops. How is this broken forth breach upon thee? Therefore his name was called Pharez. And afterward came out his brother and had a scarlet thread upon his hand. And his name was called Zahar, Zara.
[00:27:08] So it's funny, we had twins. Now here we go, we. And a lot of things.
[00:27:16] Esau, Jacob, and of course Jacob hanging on to the heel of Esau. So it's very funny how one is coming out before the other one broken forth first.
[00:27:30] It's very interesting. So here we are, Joseph's test with the Egyptian woman. Now it's Getting really. We're getting into a lot of different things. It's starting to get really, really fun here.
[00:27:43] I get excited and have a blast reading the Bible.
[00:27:49] And Joseph was brought down to Egypt. And Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh, captain of the guard, an Egyptian, brought him out of the hands of the Ishmaelites, which had brought him down thither. And the Lord was with Joseph. And he was a prosperous man. And he was in the house of his master, the Egyptian. He was successful being a slave.
[00:28:17] And his master saw that the Lord was with him. And that the Lord made all that he did to prosper into his hand.
[00:28:26] So Joseph is. Is calling upon God. He's being faithful. He's successful doing the things that his master has asked him to do. It's been profitable. Everything is good.
[00:28:40] And Joseph found grace in his sight and he served him. And he made him overseer over his house. And all that he had, he put into his hand.
[00:28:51] So everything that is going on now with, with. With Potiphar, he is placed in Joseph's care. Joseph is the steward here now. He's taking care of everything.
[00:29:09] And it came to pass from the time they had made him overseer in his house and over all that he had that the Lord blessed the Egyptian house for Joseph's sake. And the blessing of the Lord was upon all that he had in the house and in the field.
[00:29:27] Joseph is faithful to God at this point, calling on him.
[00:29:32] Therefore God has blessed Potiphar on this, who is then in turn taking good care of Joseph and blessing him. Because it's been profitable, it's been good, things are good, things are good here.
[00:29:47] And he left all that he had in Joseph's hand. And he knew him not. And he knew not ought he had saved the bread which he did eat. And Joseph was a godly person and well favored. And it came to pass after these things that his master's wife cast her eyes upon Joseph. And she said, lie with me. But he refused. And he said unto his master's wife, behold, my master wanteth not what.
[00:30:19] What is with me in the house. And he hath committed all that he hath to my hand. There is none greater in his house than I. Neither have he kept back anything from me but thee, because thou art his wife. How then can I do this great wickedness and sin against God?
[00:30:43] He's laying it on the line. I am not going to sin against God by laying with you. It is wrong. I don't want to do it. You are somebody else's Wife, that's it. I'm not going to do this.
[00:30:56] And it came to pass as she spoke to Joseph day by day, that he hearkened not unto her to lie, lie by her, or to be with her. And it came to pass about this time that Joseph went into the house to do his business. And there was none of the men in the house there within bad situation.
[00:31:19] So there's nobody there to be a witness. There's nobody there. He's kind of put himself at risk there. So. And she caught him by his garment, saying, lie with me. And he left his garment in her hand and fled and got. And got him out. And it came to pass when she saw that he left his garment in her hand and was and was fled forth, that she called unto the man of her house and spoke to them, saying, see, he had brought in this Hebrew. And here we go. Israelites. Hebrews. You, you can you see now again, a little bit of a step forward here, and you're going to find this out kind of a derogatory. Derogatory term of Israelites. So.
[00:32:09] And he came unto me to lie with me. And I cried with the loud voice. And it came to pass when he heard that I lifted up my voice and cried that he left his garment with me and fled and got him out. And she laid up his garment by her until his Lord came home. So Potiphar is going to get home now. And listen. And she spoke unto him according to these words, saying, the Hebrew servant which thou has brought unto us came in unto me to mock me, be with, be with her, hit on her, lay with her.
[00:32:49] And it came to pass as I lifted up my voice and cried. He left his garment with me and fled out. And it came to pass when his master heard the words of his wife, which she spoke unto him, saying, after this manner did thy sir, did thy servant to me. That this wrath was kindled at Joseph's master, took him and put him into the prison, a place where the king's prisoners were bound. And he was there in the prison. But the Lord was with Joseph and showed him mercy and gave him favor in the sight of the keeper of the prison. Now, it's very interesting here because Potiphar's coming home. He's going to believe his wife, of course. Okay, I. I mean, no reason not to always. It's God first, then. Then your wife and you. And then everything will kind of settle into where it is. But I find that this is very interesting. Who would doubt their wives in this situation?
[00:33:51] But and we don't know really anything about her.
[00:33:56] But has she done this in the past too? Kind of makes you wonder. There's so many different ways you could look at this.
[00:34:02] And she lied and was derogatory about it on top of it.
[00:34:09] And of course the garment was still there. So how does she explain that away?
[00:34:18] So the only thing she could do was lie at that point to her husband.
[00:34:25] So now he's thrown in this prison wrongfully. So he was thrown into the pit wrongfully. So, you know, and sold and everything. It's a very humbling moment now for Joseph, maybe he was. This kind of makes me believe that at that point when he was dreaming, was he getting his brother's goat? Yeah, I'm kind of thinking that way. God loves him, God's showing favor to him, but it's also very humbling.
[00:34:58] He was in charge of his brothers. He shows good stewardship. We knew that because potter Potiphar put everything in charge of him.
[00:35:06] So was he doing that with his father?
[00:35:11] Yeah, maybe. Maybe Joseph is just good at that. And maybe he wasn't getting his brother's goats. But it's just. Or being an antagonistic. But now here comes the humbling part.
[00:35:29] The Lord was with Joseph and showed him mercy and gave favor in the sight of the keeper of the prison. And the keeper of the prison committed to Joseph's hand all the prisoners that were in the prison. And whatsoever they did there, he was the doer of it. He's the director. He's. He's responsible. You do this, you'll do that. He's making sure he's running things efficiently for a third time.
[00:35:53] So everything he's touching is prosperous. It's. It's doing well, it's going well. The keeper of the prison looked not to anything that was under his hand because the Lord was with him. And that which he did, the Lord made it to prosper.
[00:36:16] So now we get into chapter 40, Joseph's test with the Egyptian society. So Joseph's going to be tested again here. And. And we're seeing it. So let's get on with that. And it came to pass after these things that the butler, the king of Egypt and his baker had offended their lord. The king of Egypt, the pharaoh, was wroth against the two of his officers, against the chief of the butlers and against the chief of the bakers.
[00:36:52] And he's mad at him. He doesn't want to hear anything about it. They're in prison now, so now they're in there with Joseph. Joseph runs the prison. Right. He knows this.
[00:37:06] And of course, he put them in the ward, in the house of the captain of the guard, into the prison, the place where Joseph was bound. And the captain, the guard, charged Joseph with them, and he served them. And they continued a season in the ward. And they dreamed a dream, both of them, each according to his dream in one night. Each man, according to the interpretation of his dream. The butler. The butler and the baker of the king of Egypt, which were bound in the prison. And Joseph came in unto them in the morning and looked upon them, and behold, they were sad. And he asked the Pharaoh's officer that were with him in the ward of the Lord's house, saying, wherefore look ye so sadly today?
[00:38:01] And they said unto him, we have dreamed a dream, and there's no interpreter of it. And Joseph said unto them, do not interpretations belong to God? Tell me then, I pray you.
[00:38:15] So Joseph's smart enough to know that if you're having a dream or whatever you have to you, you ask God to give you understanding, to give you the knowledge on how to interpret dreams.
[00:38:27] And the chief butler told his dream to Joseph and said to him, in my dream, behold, a vine was before me. And the vine were three branches.
[00:38:39] And it was though it budded, and her blossoms shot forth. And the clusters there are, there thereof brought forth ripe grapes.
[00:38:50] And the Pharaoh's cup was in my hand. And I took the grapes and pressed them into the Pharaoh's cup. I gave the cup unto Pharaoh's hand.
[00:38:59] Now, you'll notice this is numbers, threes again, right? So first they're in this prison and. And they're having these. These dreams. They don't know how to interpret it or anything they're serving.
[00:39:16] It's everything that I see is the numbers again. Now we're at the numbers, you know, the threes. And you could kind of to me, the way I look at it is you kind of see exactly where this is going. And Joseph said unto him, this is the interpretation of it. The three branches are three days. Yet within three days shall Pharaoh lift up thy head and restore thee unto thy place. And thou shalt deliver Pharaoh's cup into his hand.
[00:39:48] After the foreigner manner when thou was his butler.
[00:39:56] Again, it kind of goes New Testament, Old Testament, Three days, kind of put it together there. I'll let you kind of put it together there.
[00:40:05] And.
[00:40:08] And he said, but yet within three days shall Pharaoh lift up thy head. And here we go. But think on me when it shall be well with thee, and show me kindness. I Pray thee unto me, and make mention of me unto Pharaoh, and bring me out of this house. Bring me out of this prison. Get me out of here. For indeed I was stolen away out of the hand of the Hebrews. And here also have I done nothing that they should put me into the dungeon. When the chief breaker saw that the interpretation was good, he said unto Joseph, I also was in my dream. And behold, I had three white baskets on my head. And in the utmost basket there was of all manner the the baked meats for Pharaoh. And the birds did eat them out of the basket upon my head. And Joseph answered and said, this is the interpretation thereof. The three baskets are three days. Yet within three days shall Pharaoh lift up thy head from off thee, and shall hang thee on a tree, and the birds shall eat thy flesh from from off thee. And it came to pass on the third day, in which the Pharaoh's birthday that he made a feast unto all his servants. And he lifted up the head of the chief butler and of the chief baker among his servants. And he restored the chief butler unto his butlership again. And he gave the cup into Pharaoh's hand. But he hanged the chief baker, as Joseph had interpreted to them.
[00:41:46] Yet did not the chief butler remember Joseph, but forgotten.
[00:41:53] So Jason's tests with Pharaoh's dreams. This is going to get really good now. And we're on chapter 41, page 53, Genesis 41. And it came to pass at the end of the two full years that Pharaoh dreamed. And behold, he stood by the river. And behold, there came up out of the River 7 well favored kind and fattened flesh. And they had fed in a meadow. And behold, seven other kind came up out of them out of the out of the river. And ill favored and lean fleshed and stood by the other kind upon the brink of the river. And the ill favored and lean fleshed kind did eat up the seven well flavored and fat kind. So the Pharaoh awoke.
[00:42:47] He's having these dreams. And he's having these dreams. Okay, there's seven kinds here. And it's like having. All right, I have seven wonderful cows or something. And then seven more come up that are not doing so good. But the seven not doing so good ate the seven that were good.
[00:43:10] So and he slept and dreamed a second time. And behold, seven ears of corn came up upon one stalk rank and good. And behold, seven ears of corn, or seven thin ears, and blasted with the east wind sprung up after them. And the seven thin ears devoured the seven rank and foliars. And Pharaoh Awoke, and behold, it was a dream. And it came to pass in the morning that his spirit was troubled. And he sent and called for all the magicians of Egypt, and all the wise men thereof. And Pharaoh told them his dream. But there was none that can interpret them unto Pharaoh. Then spoke the chief butler to unto Pharaoh, saying, I do remember my faults. This day Pharaoh was wroth with his servants. And he put me in ward and in the captain of the guard's house, both me and the chief baker. And we dreamed a dream in one night.
[00:44:18] I and he, we dreamed each man according to the interpretation of his dream.
[00:44:26] Then there was there with us a young man, a Hebrew, a servant to the captain of the guard. And we told him and he interpreted our dreams to each man according to his dream did he interpret. And it came to pass as he interpreted to us. So it was me he restored unto my office, and him he hanged. Then Pharaoh sent and called Joseph, and and they brought him hastily out of the dungeon. And he shaved himself and changed his raiment and came in unto Pharaoh. And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, I have dreamed a dream, and there is none that can interpret it. And I have heard say of thee that thou can understand a dream to interpret it. And Joseph answer failed, saying, it is not me. God shall give Pharaoh an answer of, of peace. And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, in my dream, behold, I stood upon the bank of a river.
[00:45:32] And behold, there came up out of the river seven kind, fat fleshed and well faith favored. And they fed in a meadow. And behold, seven other kind came in after them. Poor and very ill favored, and lean fleshed, such as I never saw in all the land of Egypt for badness and the lean and the ill favored kind did eat up the first seven fat kind.
[00:46:07] And when they had eaten them up.
[00:46:12] Sorry guys, I can hear noise in the background there. And when they eaten it up, it could not be known that they had eaten them. But they were still ill favored as at the beginning. So I awoke and I saw in my dream. And behold, seven ears of corn came up in one stalk, full and good. And behold, seven ears withered thin and blasted with the east wind sprung up after them. And the thin ears devoured the seven good ears. And I told this unto the magicians, but there was none that that could declare to me. And Joseph said unto Pharaoh, the dream of Pharaoh is one. God hath showed Pharaoh what he is about to do. The seven good kind are seven years, and the seven good ears are seven years. The dream is one.
[00:47:02] The seven thin and ill Favored kind that came up after them are seven years and seven empty years. Blasted with the east wind shall be seven years of famine.
[00:47:15] This is the thing which I have spoken unto Pharaoh, what God is about to do, as he he showeth unto Pharaoh. Behold, there come seven years of great plenty throughout all the land of Egypt. And there shall arise after them seven years of famine. And all the plenty shall be forgotten in the land of Egypt. And the famine shall consume the land. And the plenty shall not be known in the land by reason of the famine following, for it shall be very grievous. And for the dream was doubled unto Pharaoh twice. Because the thing is established by God, and God will sure surely shortly bring it to pass. Now therefore, let Pharaoh look out a man discreet and wise, and sent him O and set him over the land of Egypt. Let Pharaoh do this, and let him appoint officers over the land and take up a fifth part of the land of Egypt in the seven plenteous years. And let them gather all the food of those good years that come and lay up the corn under the hand of Pharaoh. And let them keep the food in the cities. And the food shall be for store to the land against the seven years of fam. Famine which shall be in the land of Egypt. That the hand that the land perish not through the fan, the famine.
[00:48:44] So Joseph's basically telling him, listen, you need to start storing up the food now. Here we are at seven good years. They're going to be good years, plentiful, everything's going to be wonderful and everything like that. Put somebody in charge of that and right away we already know for three times in a row Joseph has done a fantastic job. He was a good steward for his father, he was a good steward for Potiphar. And now he's before Pharaoh. And he was a good steward in the prison. And now he's before Pharaoh. So what do you think's going to happen here?
[00:49:21] And the thing was good in the eyes of Pharaoh and all the eyes of his servants. And the Pharaoh said unto his servants, can we find such a one? As this is a man in whom the spirit of God is so now looking. Oh, no, you're the man. We could. We can see you, you know. You have the spirit of God in you. You're interpreting the dreams, everything that you got going on. And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, for as much as God hath shown thee all this, there is none so discreet and wise as thou art.
[00:49:59] Thou shall be over my house. And according unto thy word shall be shall all my People be ruled only in the throne. In the throne will I be greater than thou.
[00:50:14] He's put him number two. He's over everyone. Potiphar prison guard. He's over everybody now. He is now number two in Egypt, without a question.
[00:50:25] The only one higher than him, other than than God, of course, is going to be Pharaoh. Pharaoh said, it's my throne that that is the rule. But anything else, it's yours. Here you go. You will be responsible and you do what you need. And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, see, I have set thee over all the land of Egypt. And Pharaoh took off his ring from his hand and put it upon Joseph's hand, and arrayed him in vestures of fine linen and put a gold chain around his neck. And he made him ride in the second chariot which he had. And they cried before him, bow the knee.
[00:51:07] And he made him ruler over all the land of Egypt. And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, I am Pharaoh, and without thee shall no man lift up his hand or foot in the land of Egypt. And Pharaoh called Joseph's name.
[00:51:23] Boy, I'm never going to get this. Zapnath peniel. And he gave him a wife, Asna, and the daughter of Potiphar's priest of On. And Joseph went out over all the land of Egypt. And Joseph was 30 years old when he stood before Pharaoh, king of Egypt. And Joseph went out from the presence of Pharaoh and went throughout all the land of Egypt. And in the seven plentiest years of earth, brought forth by handfuls, he gathered up all the food of the seven years which in the land of Egypt. And he laid up the food in cities, the food of the field which was round about every city. And he laid up the same. Now, here's what's very interesting, okay, Going back to the dreams that he had with his brothers.
[00:52:19] They're going to bow to him. And of course, he told Israel this dream, Jacob, his father, and he took note of him and rebuked him, if you remember.
[00:52:33] So here we go. And Joseph gathered corn as the sand of the sea very much until he left numbering, for it was without number, he couldn't keep track of it. And unto Joseph were born two sons, before the years of famine came, which ethnic daughter of Potiphar, priest of priest of on, bear unto him. And Joseph called the name of the firstborn, Manasseh. And for God said, he hath made me forget all my toil in all my father's house. And the name of the second he called Ephraim, for God hath caused me to be Fruitful in the land of my affliction. And the seven years of plenus that was in the land of Egypt were ended.
[00:53:25] So holy smokes. That's what's going on there.
[00:53:30] And the, and the seven years of Darth began to. Began to come according as Joseph had said. And the Darth was in all the lands. But in all the lands of Egypt there was bread. And in all the land of Egypt was famished. And the people cried unto Pharaoh for bread. And Pharaoh said unto all the Egyptians, go unto Joseph what he saith to you do. And the famine was all over the face of the earth. And Joseph opened all the storehouses and sold unto the Egyptians. And. And the famine waxed sore in the land of Egypt. And all the countries came into Egypt unto Joseph to buy corn because that famine was so sore in all the lands. And we're going to stop there, Ron. And we are now on. And my pens are gone.
[00:54:26] See this happens.
[00:54:29] So I have to find another pen here. But we are going to be on chapter 42 and I will find a pen and get this fixed. But we're on chapter 42. Joseph's brothers visit Egypt.
[00:54:45] And you think about this for a little bit. So why are they coming to Egypt? Well, we already know why. There's no food anywhere there. The land is, is famine. It's. Everything is happening. And the only one who stored up food in the land was Joseph. And he was taking, you know, a fifth of all this, tenth of all this and putting it into storehouses. He saw this out, he, he interpreted the dream. And Joseph has prospered very well.
[00:55:18] He's in charge of everything. The only one above him is Pharaoh and God of course, but Pharaoh.
[00:55:25] So again now you're seeing the names of tribes that are going to come up out of Egypt. They're going to become up one of the 12 tribes of Israel. And you could kind of see it, you know, and in the names of the past already that we've gone over. So Naftali, Benjamin, Dan, Gad, Ephraim, Manasseh. It's very interesting how this is playing out all the different things going on in the backgrounds. I try to point them all out, but of course you got to be open to your own interpretation and how you see things. I love the fact that there's over 60,000, 63,000, I believe something cross references in the Bible, which is fantastic. It is a wonderful story. This is one of my favorite stories with Joseph and looking at everything that he's went through.
[00:56:23] But it does open up that thing. Was he really getting his brothers kind of being antagonistic?
[00:56:30] Maybe because he was young, but he's 30 now. He's been humbled. Okay. He has toiled and, and gotten, you know, just in prison, a little bit of humility there.
[00:56:49] It's been a rough road for him. So now you can kind of see where God still has this wonderful favor on him and everything he's doing is prosperous again. And we're going to catch up on that this next time next week. So we're stopping here. Today is the 1st of December.
[00:57:09] We'll catch up on this one. Seven days from now and it is Joseph's brothers visit Egypt. Oh, we're going to see what happens there. That ought to be interesting. Here's dear's Joseph and I want you to pay attention to this. All his brothers are going to be coming to Egypt. And why? Well, I'm under the impression it's going to be for food, but we shall see. I already know the answer here, of course, but we're going to see how this works out and I, I absolutely love that part.
[00:57:43] And, and I hope you guys will join me again next week. So anyway, with that, have a wonderful Sunday night. Have a wonderful week. Be safe, be good. We're, you know, in a holiday season here, so I want you to remember something.
[00:58:02] Praise God. Give God the glory every day, not just more importantly on Christmas Day. I want you to understand we should be praising him and giving him glory the same every single day, Christmas or not. We celebrate that time coming up and should be ever so greatly every single day.
[00:58:26] Don't let it, how do I say, skew your vision enough. That every day we should be praising Christ. So every day the Father. And that's what we need to do with that. You guys take care. God bless, Much love. And we'll talk to you all later on.
