[00:00:32] Hey, good evening, everyone. And how you doing? Welcome to Life walk with Christ. God. And, you know, we were here we are. [00:00:41] We are right in with Jacob in Esau. And we have talked about all the way through conflict and then reconciliation and how things are going. So right now we know that Isaac is not doing well. He's passing away. He's getting ready to give his blessing. And, of course, normally it would go to the first child. [00:01:12] So in this case, Esau. But what has Esau done? If we go back and we took a look. We took a look at this, Esau gave up his birthright to Jacob. And we know Jacob is. The meaning is deceiver. [00:01:29] And he did it for lentil porridge and lentil soup and tricked his brother. And his brother didn't think much about it at that time, bitter about it later. But he is trying to honor his father. His father. Last meal. He wants venison, and he wants him to go on out and get it for him and prepare it. Now, we know at this time that the mother, and that is before I mess this up, Rachel or Rebecca, I mean, she knows exactly how to cook this meal. Meal. She's been, you know, she's the mom. She knows this. And she is the one who favors Jacob, as we're. Isaac favors Esau. So there's this. This family that is going through this entire kind of conflict here. And the mother has now said to her son, Jacob, listen, this is what I want you to do. Listen to me very carefully and do exactly as I command you to do. And he has dressed up like his brother in his clothes, because Jacob was like, listen, dad is going to find out. [00:02:58] Isaac is going to find out. I am J. I am Jacob. [00:03:03] And she said, no. He goes, I don't have hairy arms. I don't have the hairy neck or everything that he does or smell like him. But she puts everything on him and disguises him well. And we already know that Isaac's a little bit clued into everything because he's like, you seem like Esau, but you have Jacob's voice, so he's suspicious. So let's see how it plays out. We are on page 38, King James Bible, Genesis 27. And we are on verse 25. And that's where we stopped last time. And we're getting into some really good stuff coming up. But first we have to finish up with this story here and move on to everything that happens within that story, because there's going to be some things that are going to happen in here that are absolutely wonderful pay attention to the background, the different things that are happening. And we already know, as I explained before, Jacob is the deceiver. What did he. He hung on to Esau's heel when they were born. When they came out, they were wrestling in her stomach. She didn't know she was having twins at that time yet. [00:04:24] So we know how everything is just. [00:04:30] Both names suggest man and also a family in a tug of war with God and each other. So this is going to be very interesting, and let's get to it. [00:04:45] And he said, bring it near to me, and I will eat of my son's venison, that my soul may bless thee. And he brought it near to him, and he did eat, and he brought him wine, and he drank. Now he's plying them with wine also a little bit here. Common for back then, in those times and everything. But we already know throughout the Bible that it warns us about having too much wine and plying them with wine. He's in his old age, could probably throw off the senses a little bit, and we're going to see exactly how. How much it is. And his father, Isaac said unto him, come near now and kiss me, my son. And he came near and kissed him, and he smelled the smell of his raiment, and he blessed him and said, see, the smell of my son is the smell of the field which the Lord hath blessed. And we know this. [00:05:55] Esau was a wonderful hunter, and Jacob was a man of the tents. [00:06:01] So the weaker of the two, Esau is definitely, I'm going to go get my food. I'm going to go do this. I'm going to work hard and everything else. [00:06:13] But he upsets God because he gives away his birthright. [00:06:19] So we could see where this is kind of playing a role. And, of course, Isaac is now smelling the clothes, and things are starting to be, oh, okay, the venison smells good, the wine is good. Everything is good. So here we are in verse 28. Now, therefore, God give thee of the dew of heaven and the fatness of the earth and plenty of corn and wine, and you're going to see where this is now going forward again, back and forth. We have 69,000 different references that go from New Testament to Old Testament, Old Testament, further to Old Testament, or New Testament to New Testament. But there's 69,000 plus different ways that this goes back and forth. So you can look at deuteronomy 33 28. I mean, it's just amazing if you're really paying attention to all this. Let people serve thee and the nations bow down to thee. Be Lord over thy brethren. [00:07:26] Catch that one. Be Lord over thy brethren. [00:07:32] And let thy mother son bow down to thee. [00:07:36] So he is now getting ready to bless Jacob, which is supposed to go to Esau. And asking God as he's giving the blessing, first of all, your mother son, he's going to bow down to you. And he's thinking that it's Jacob that's going to bow down to Esau. But not we're reversed here. And you're going to be lord over thy brethren. So cursed be everyone that curseth thee. And blessed be he that blessed thee. [00:08:11] And it came to pass as soon as Isaac had made the end of the blessing. [00:08:16] Jacob. And Jacob was yet scarce gone out from the presence of Isaac, his father, that Esau, his brother, came in from his hunting. [00:08:28] So they've already committed this deception. [00:08:33] And Jacob's already went out. And I'm sure now here comes Isaac with the venison that he's caught for his father. [00:08:45] And he also made savory meat and brought it unto his father. And said unto his father, let my father arise and eat of his son's venison. That thy soul may bless me. [00:08:59] Make it be tasteful. Let it, you know, let him enjoy it. And Isaac, his father said unto him, who art thou? And he said, I am thy son, thy firstborn Esau. [00:09:14] And you're going to see. This is going to go into Exodus 13 two. You're going to see these cross references and stuff. But. And Isaac trembled very exceedingly and said, who? Where is he that had taken venison and brought it to me? And I have eaten of all before thou comest? And I have blessed him. Yea, and he shall be blessed. You can't change the blessing. He's made this blessing now to God. [00:09:45] So here we go. And when Esau heard the words of his father, he cried with a great and exceeding bitter cry. And he said unto his father, bless me. Even me also, o my father. [00:10:00] And he said, thy brother came with Subtili. And he had taken away thy blessing. And he said, he is not rightly named. Jacob supplanted me these two times. He took away my birthright. And behold, now he has taken away my blessing. And he said, thou has not reserved a blessing for me. So now you could see Esau is really upset. And he's blaming Jacob for taking away his birthright. But when he was famished and he was really hungry because he had been working. And he says, I'm about to die. [00:10:42] Over exaggerating, probably, but at that time, when his brother had the food, when Jacob had the food there, hey, give me your birthright. [00:10:54] And of course he does. And now Jacob has, again, at the request of Rebecca, gone ahead and deceived the father. And she's already told him, don't worry about this. I will take the blame. [00:11:10] I will be responsible. [00:11:13] So you could kind of see and map out how God's plan is going to work in all of this. And God's hand is always there, guiding, making things, and throughout the Bible, Old Testament, New Testament, and everything. I don't care if it's the disciples. I don't care if it's Paul. I don't Moses. It doesn't matter. God doesn't pick the most upright and righteous people. God picks the people that are going to fulfill what he needs them to do. And I think this is where we make a lot of mistakes in the world today, is we sit here and we're thinking about all this, but it's not what we want. It is what God wants, and it is exactly what he needs us to fulfill. We just have to hear heed and go to that calling and listen to him. And I think that's where we have most of the problems. Because let's face it, first of all, we're inherently evil. We already know this. [00:12:20] God has already said this earlier in Genesis. We already know this. But we always will have self doubt and then worry about ourselves not being good enough, not trusting, and having that fear. [00:12:36] And these are the things. This is where we have to elevate ourselves. But let's go ahead. Let's move on from here. And Isaac answered and said to Esau, behold, I have made him thy lord and all his brethren. And I have given him for servants. And with corn and wine, I have sustained him. And what should I do now unto thee, my son? So. [00:13:04] And Esau said to his father, has thou but one blessing? My father, bless me. Even me also, o my father. And Esau lifted up his voice and wept. [00:13:16] He's very much troubled. And that's that conflict. And here we are. And Isaac. Father, father answered and said unto him, behold, thy dwelling shall be the fatness of the earth and of the dew of heaven from above. [00:13:35] And by the sword shall thou live and shall serve thy brother. And it shall come to pass when thou shall have the dominion, that thou shall break his yoke from off thy neck. What does that mean? How can we look at this and say, okay, how is he going to break this, this yoke this heavy burden that Jacob is now kind of just grabbed ahold of Isaac and leading him around. It might as well be a bit in a horse. And he's leading him around because this is exactly what it is. But there'll come a time when, okay, the conflict is now, and you're going to be serving. You're going to be doing this, but there'll be a time when you will break free of this. [00:14:25] How is that going to happen? Is it going to happen violently? Is it going to happen with reconciliation? [00:14:33] So let's find out. [00:14:35] And Esau hated Jacob because of the blessing wherewith his father blessed him. And Esau said in his heart, the days of mourning for my father are at hand. Then will I slay my brother Jacob? He's so angry and full of his wrath and full of wrath that he's ready to. [00:14:57] Basically, I call it, he's going to cane him, as we know, with Abel and Cain. Here we go. We're in that spot where he is that angry with his brother. And let's move on. And we're on. Verse 42 now. And these words of Esau, her elder son, were told to Rebecca. And she sent and called for Jacob, her younger son. And she said unto him, behold thy brother Esau, as touching thee doeth comfort themselves proposing to kill thee. Now, therefore, my son, obey my voice. Again she's telling, listen to me. Obey my commands. Obey my voice. [00:15:46] Flee thou to Laban, my brother, to Haran and tarry with him a few days until thy brother's fury turn away, until thy brother's anger turn away from thee, and that he forget that which has done to him, then I will send and fetch thee from thence. Why should I be deprived also of you both in one day? [00:16:14] So she's referring to Isaac here. She's going to lose him, and now she's going to lose Jacob, so she's giving him another command. [00:16:27] In a lot of ways, she created this command form the first time, the deception. His brother is already deceptive. [00:16:37] And now run. Go. Run. I want you to run. Go to my brother's house so he has a safe place to be. And when your brother calms down and comes to his senses, I will send for you. [00:16:54] And Rebecca said to Isaac, I am weary of my life because of the daughters of Heth. If Jacob take a wife of the daughters of Heth, such as these, which are the daughters of the land, what good shall my life do me? [00:17:11] And now we're on chapter 28. And Isaac called Jacob and blessed him. And charged him and said unto him, thou shall not take a wife of the daughters of Canaanite arise and go to Pandoram to the house of Bethel, thy mother's father, and take thee a wife from thence of the daughters of Laman, thy mother's brother and God almighty bless thee and make thee fruitful and multiply thee, that thou mayest be a multitude of people and give thee the blessing of Abraham to thee and to thy seed with thee and that thou mayest inherit the land wherein thou art stranger which God gave unto Abraham. Now we're going back and we're looking at Abraham and we know everything basically is a start over from Abraham and Isaac. [00:18:04] Because Abraham was so obedient to God and listened to everything that God said. And we know he told his son, you will not marry Canaanite. Isaac did nothing, sent the servant and the servant went. And the servant was looking for a sign to make sure he was picking the right woman for Isaac. Rebecca. She would draw the water out and she would offer him the water when he asked. And then she would take care of the camels, okay, the livestock. And then he tarried there. He dressed her and adorned her with gold and everything. She had never met him. She had never been with a man, nothing else. She went in and told her family, her brother and everyone. She went back and boom, that's how they were married. Okay? [00:18:53] So there's a lot of conflict again with the Canaanites and everything because God had already said, Isaac will be as numerous the people come, as numerous as the stars, the sand on the seashores. [00:19:14] Christ is actually descendant, a lot of people think, from David, but it is not true. It actually goes back to Abraham and Isaac. Okay? If you look at it, that's where everything is. God has turned and said, I am the father of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. [00:19:36] So who is going to get his name changed here eventually? And we're going to see that. But you could see that kind of new beginning right there. So here we go. [00:19:48] And Isaac called Jacob and blessed him and charged him. And he said, you know, do not take a wife of the DaughtErs of CAnaan. Arise, go to Pandoram, to the house of Bethu, my mother's father, and take thee a wife from thence of the daughters of Laban, the mother's brother and God almighty bless thee and make thee fruitful and multiply thee, that thou mayest be a multitude of people. Here's that multitude again. And we're seeing this over and over again as these blessings go be a multitude of people. [00:20:23] Be fruitful. [00:20:25] We heard that from God. Be fruitful. Multiply in the earth. [00:20:31] He's, he's done it over and over again, repeatedly. And not only with the birds, with the animals and everything else. [00:20:41] Everything is tied together, but as a people. Multiply, be fruitful and give thee a blessing of Abraham to thee and to thy seed with thee, that thou mayest inherit the land wherein thou art a stranger, which God gave unto Abraham. And God, don't forget, God made like four or five different covenants with Abraham, so. And Abraham was true blue all the way up to the sacrificing of Isaac, but knew that God already knew in his heart that God was powerful enough to raise the dead. So God knew this. And of course, the angel came down and said, don't lay a hand on the laden. Don't hurt him. Don't touch him. [00:21:29] And Isaac sent away Jacob. And he went to Pandoram unto Laban, the son of Bethios, the Syrian, the brother of Rebekah's Jacob and Esau's mother. When Esau saw that Isaac had blessed Jacob, he sent him away to Pandarem to take him a wife from thence. And, and that as he blessed him, he gave him charge, saying, thou shall not take a wife of the daughters of Canaan. Again. Here it is. Don't do this again. Don't. Nobody is taking a wife from Canaan. The Canaanites. [00:22:07] And that Jacob obeyed his father and his mother and was gone to Pandoram and Esau, seeing that the daughters of Canaan pleased not Isaac, his father, then went Esau unto Ishmael and took the wives of which he had. [00:22:29] I can never say these names correctly, so you have to forgive me for this. This is one of my flaws. [00:22:35] Mahaloth, the daughter of IshmAel's Abraham son, the sister of NebuchadnEzzar, to be his wife. [00:22:43] And Jacob went out from BeersHeba and he went towards Haran. [00:22:49] He lightened upon a certain place and tarried there all night because the sun was set. And he took off the stones of that place and placed them for his pillows and lay down in that place to sleep. And that's where he stayed. [00:23:07] He dreamed, and beholden ladder set up on the earth, and the top of it reached to heaven, and behold the angels of God ascending and descending on it. So he's having these dreams, visions, however you want to put it, and look at what he's seen. And these are the different things that are going on in the background. You could see how he's making stones, his pillows, just so much going on in the background, but you have to pay attention to it. That's why I said, you're reading this. But it is poetically, almost poetically written, and just such a wonderful love story and true love story. And that's the best part. [00:23:50] And behold, the Lord stood above it and said, I am the Lord God of Abraham, thy father, and God of Isaac. The land where thou lies, to thee I will give it and to thy seed. [00:24:05] Oh, here we go. So now God is, again, this is that relationship that God is very much involved in his creation. Why? Because as we go back, we said, first of all, we were made in the image of God. Second of all, he's invested, okay? He's, he's invested in this. He's created the world, he's done all these things. [00:24:30] This could have all ended a long time ago if he had taken the lives Adam and the woman. And remember, she was the woman until Adam called her Eve and they were exited the garden. So it could have ended there. [00:24:47] But God has the ultimate plan, so. [00:24:53] And here we go. And that relationship, as you know, was snapped, you know, was broken with Adam. And it was a close bond. It was that conflict which eventually came back to reconciliation as we moved on. And now here we are. And thy seed shall be as the dust of the earth, and thou shall spread abroad to the west, to the east, to the north, and to the south. And in thee, and in thy seed shall all the families of the earth beef blessed. [00:25:28] Now you're starting to see, okay, if you're hearing this and you're listening closely, it is not just going to be Israel. Think about this. This is the descendants of the world, okay? And they're going to be blessed that follow the Lord God and follow and the Trinity, Christ, God, the Holy Spirit, so, and behold, I am with thee, and will keep thee in all places where thou goest. And I will bring thee again into this land. For I will not leave thee until I have done that which I have spoken of thee. He is going to protect him. And Jacob awaked out of his sleep, and he surely the Lord is in this place. [00:26:17] And I knew it not. [00:26:20] And he was afraid and said, how dreadful is this place. This is none other but the house of God. And this is the gate of heaven. It's awesome. [00:26:33] It's an awesome place. And this is, you know how he's seeing it. We're gonna, we're gonna see why this is. And Jacob rose up early in the morning and took a stone that he had put for his pillows and set it up for a pillar and poured oil upon the top of it. And he called the name of that place Bethel, but the name of that city was called Luz at the first. So think about it. He's made this because of these dreams, the stones which he used as the pillow, which I said, you have to pay attention in the background. Now he has stacked them, poured oil on them. They have significant meaning. [00:27:16] And these are just the things that are just beginning. That's why I said, there's so much going on in the background, and instead of just reading it and no one's catching it or understanding it, there's reasons why that this is done. [00:27:31] And Jacob vowed a vow, saying, if God will be with me and he will keep me in this way, that I go and I will give and give me bread to eat and remnant to put on so that I could come again to my father's house in peace, then shall the Lord be my God. [00:27:51] Now, you think about this, and you could kind of look at it as is Jacob testing God in a way? Well, if God is going to do this, then absolutely I'm going to believe that he is God. Or is it? Or is he kind of testing that? Surely, if he's going to give me some clothes, give me some food, give me what I need, and you shall be my God. It's kind of a test a little bit, and, you know, kind of arrogant in a little bit of a way. And Jacob has always been kind of a deceiver, so you can see how this is kind of playing out a little bit. [00:28:34] But God is remembering the vow that he had to Abraham, too. He has to Isaac. And now here we are with Jacob. So, you know, I will return to success. Here we go to judgment. Here we go. And this stone, which I have set for a pillar shall be God's house, and all of that shall be given me, and I will surely give the 10th unto thee. Here's that 10th again. [00:29:02] So that 10th is, if you remember AbraHam, Abram, before God, of course, named him Abraham. But if you remember Melchizedek, the king of Salem, that has no genealogy, okay? [00:29:22] Nothing that anybody can really trace to him. High priest. However, and we're going to see this again later in the Bible, that in the order of Melchizedek. And of course, Abraham is now giving a 10th. Abram gave a 10th of what was recovered from when he went to. To rescue the people and got all their stuff back. He sits here and gives Melchizedek a 10th, a tithe, and here's a tithe again, so we're starting to see. You could see where it's jumping around here. Then Jacob went on his journey, and he came unto the land of the people of the east, and he looked and beheld a well in the field. And lo, there were three flocks of sheep lying by it. For out of that well they watered the flocks, and a great stone was upon the well's mouth. And thither were all the rocks gathered. And they rolled the stone from the wells mouth and watered the sheep, and put the stone again upon the wells mouth in his place. [00:30:36] And Jacob said to him, my brother, whence be ye? And they said of Haran are we? And he said unto them, know ye Labanous, the son of Nahor? And they said, we know him. And he said unto him, is he well? And they said, he is well. And behold, Rachel, his daughter cometh with sheep. And he said, lo, is it yet high day? Neither is it time for the cattle should be gathered together. Water ye the sheep, and go and feed them. [00:31:12] It's early in the day here, so you can kind of see this. And they said, we cannot until all the flocks be gathered together. And until they roll the stone from the well's mouth, then we water the sheep. [00:31:28] Why is this stone so important? [00:31:31] Let's pay attention to this. You know, they roll it back when everything's watered. Hey, they put it back on top, and then they're going to roll it back again. [00:31:41] You can kind of see that they've honed in on this well and the rock, and they're saying, no, not until all of them are here together. [00:31:52] Before we do, we roll the stone away in water. [00:31:57] And while he yet spoke to them, Rachel came with their father's sheep, for she kept them. [00:32:03] So she's tending them. She's taking care of them. And it came to pass when Jacob saw Rachel, the daughter of Laban, his mother's brother, and the sheep of Laban, his mother's brother, that Jacob went near and rolled the stone from the well's mouth and watered the flock of Laban, his mother's brother. And Jacob kissed Rachel and lifted up his voice and wept. And Jacob told Rachel that he was her father's brother and that he was Rebekah's son. And she ran and told her father. And it came to pass when Laban had heard the tidings of Jacob, his sister son, that he ran to meet him and embraced him and kissed him and brought him into his house. And he told Laban all these things. And Laban said to him, surely art thou my bone and my flesh, and he abode with him the space of a month. And Laban said unto Jacob, because thou arthemenhe, my brother, shouldst thou therefore serve me not? Tell me what thy shall wages be? And Laban had two daughters, and the name of the elder was Leah, and the name of the younger was Rachel. [00:33:18] So now he's going to serve him. Okay? And we already know the interest of Jacob is definitely Rachel. [00:33:27] And the Bible is mentioning Leah, too. She's the elder. You're kind of seeing the correlation between Esau and Leah and Rachel and Jacob. Okay, so this is. Here we go. And this is the wonderful thing about the Bible. There is always conflict, but then there is always a reconciliation, and in a way that we are never, always prepared for. But it works and it happens, and it therefore goes back and proves God's plan over and over and over again, just as we said, the Bible proves itself over and over again. [00:34:11] It's absolutely wonderful. And that's just the biblical part. We're not talking about science. We're not talking about the artifacts or all the different things that are discovered, such as dead sea scrolls, which gives the whole word for word of Isaiah in it. So we are starting to see now, early in Genesis, my absolute like favorite that everything is. [00:34:40] You know, it's just. There's no doubt. But here we go. [00:34:47] And Leah was tender, died, but Rachel was beautiful and well favored. There it is. She's tender dyed. She's pretty, she's adorable and everything. But Rachel. Rachel has caught Jacob's heart, his. [00:35:05] Wow. She is wow. [00:35:08] And Jacob loved Rachel and said, I will serve thee three, or I will serve thee three. Seven years for Rachel, thy younger daughter. And Laban said, is it better that I give her to thee, that should I give her to another man, abide with me. And Jacob served seven years for Rachel, and they seemed unto him but a few days for the love that he had for her. So here he is doing everything. He is being the servant. Now, there's a little bit of humility here for Jacob as we go along, but he wants something, so he is going to play this out, because he really loves Rachel. [00:35:56] And Jacob said unto Laban, give me my wife, for my days are fulfilled, that I might go unto her. And Laban gathered together all the men of the place and made a feast. And it came to pass in the evening that he took Leah, his daughter, and brought her to him. And he went in unto her and Laban gave his daughter Leah Zilpah to the maid for a handmaid. And it came to pass that in the morning, behold, it was Leah. And he said to Laban, what is this thou has done unto me? Now, think about it. He deceives Esau, and Laban deceives him. [00:36:37] Okay. And sends in Leah, kind of like Rebecca did with Jacob. Laban is now done with, you know, with Leah. So again, we have conflict here. Here it comes. [00:36:54] Did I not serve thee for Rachel? Wherefore has then thou beguiled me? And Laban said, it must not be okay. We had a little bit of a power surge. I apologize for that, guys, but I was coming close enough to where we were going to stop. [00:43:16] We're going to pick this up again. I will either make it up tomorrow night and, you know, get moving from there. Again, I apologize. I don't know what happened, but everything went out all around us, so, which is rare. And just other than Hurricane Halene, we really don't have surges or whatever happens like this. But I want to thank you for tuning into life walk with Christ, God, and don't forget, we're moving right along now. [00:43:50] Keep in mind where we're at. [00:43:52] Keep in mind everything that's going on. [00:43:56] And you can start to see a little bit of the parallelism and all the wonderful things that are happening, but I'm going to keep bringing to your attention all the things that are in the background as well, because they're playing such an important role as to where we're going with this, as to where God always has his hand, where he's leading this. So catch us this next time on Life Walk next week, but I'll probably finish up again tomorrow night. You could probably catch me right around 07:00. Anyway, God bless. I want you to have a wonderful week. Be good to each other, be kind, be gentle, be loving, and have a safe and happy week. And don't forget to give Christ goddess, thank you and blessings, because he has blessed you with everything. So anything that comes in our world is given from him. So take care, guys. I'll see you later. [00:44:56] Bye.
