[00:00:31] All right, guys. Hey, good evening. Actually, I'm doing the show a little early. It is Thursday. It is the 2nd of January. I want to wish everyone a wonderful merry Christmas and a happy New Year. And boy, here we are in 2025, and we have a lot going on. [00:00:52] I want to make sure that everybody, we're going to start off, you know, the year correct with God. If you remember, we are on page 74 and we're here. Pharaoh rejects Moses, and that is chapter five of Exodus. So we're in Exodus, and now we're moving on to, you know, Exodus 5, and we've got this last part. And then we're going to be moving to Exodus 6, chapter 6 here. But let's get to chapter 5. Real, real. Go right through it and let's enjoy it together. Okay? [00:01:29] Try to remember I'm not a pastor, priest, minister, deacon, I'm not a rabbi. I'm not, you know, any type of anything you want to call as far as it goes with the church. I'm just a guy who loves to read the Bible, is in love with the Bible, and we'll read this together. So the Bible has many, open to many interpretations of how you see things or how you understand it. The most important part is that you read it. And if you have any questions, don't forget, ask your priests, ask your pastors, ask your deacons, ask your clergy. [00:02:09] I think it's important. [00:02:12] Getting to know God is one of the biggest things that you can do in life. And getting to know Christ and following Christ and that's not an easy thing to do. So understand, you know, once you decide to do that, we're in for it. And it makes it extremely hard and it changes your life. It changes it for the better, but it definitely opens your life to just the greatest thing. So let's get on to it. [00:02:47] And we are in the King James Bible, so don't forget page 74, chapter 5. Pharaoh rejects Moses. And afterward Moses and Aaron went in and told Pharaoh thus, said the Lord God of Israel, let my people go, that they may hold a feast unto me in the wilderness. [00:03:06] And Pharaoh said, who is the Lord that I should obey his voice to let Israel go? [00:03:15] And that's a thing, you know, he him making that statement, who is God, who is the Lord? And you'll notice all throughout the Bible, I am, I am. And I am is how God when he in the burning bush, when the angel first came in the burning bush, and then God spoke out of the burning bush and he said, well, how am I going to get these people to do this? [00:03:45] Who am I to say you are? He says, I am who I am. And from now on he is, I am the Lord your God. I am the Lord. So here we go. And Pharaoh said, who is the Lord that I should obey his voice to let Israel go? I know not the Lord, neither will I let Israel go. And they said, the God of the Hebrews have met with us. Let us go, we pray thee, three days journey into the desert and sacrifice unto the Lord our God least he fall upon us with pestilence or with the sword. And the king of Egypt said unto them, wherefore do ye, Moses and Aaron, let the people from their works get you unto your burdens? And the Pharaoh said, behold, the people of the land are now many, and ye make them rest from their burdens. And Pharaoh commanded the same day the task makers of the people and their officers saying, ye shall do no more to give the people straw to make brick. And therefore let them go and gather the straw for themselves. [00:05:01] And the tale of bricks which they did make be here before ye shall lay upon them, and you shall not diminish out thereof. [00:05:16] For they be idle. Therefore they. They cry, saying, let us go and sacrifice to our God. Let there be more work laid upon the men that they may labor therein. And let them not regard vain words, empty promises is what he's basically saying. So because of this, he has decided to punish them. [00:05:41] Aaron and Moses came to him and said, let us go. We need to have, you know, a feast. We need to celebrate God. We need to give him burnt offerings and celebrate the Lord. Of course, Pharaoh, there's no Lord. He thinks he's the highest. He thinks he's above all. And he says, no. As a matter of fact, now you're going to gather your own straw. We used to gather the straw for you to make bricks and. And mortar and do everything. But now, because you're sitting here crying, to where they want you to go and do this and go to the Lord heard you crying out, I'm going to give you more work to keep your mind occupied. So you're not doing this. He's punished them. So let's see what happens now. [00:06:30] Go ye get your straw where you can find it. Yet not ought for your work shall be diminished. He expects the same thing. Go gather the straw. And you're going to do the same amount of work where you're. You're going to be responsible for the same amount of work. So the people were scattered abroad throughout the land of Egypt to gather stubble instead of straw. And the taskmasters hasted them, saying, fulfill your works, your daily tasks as when there was straw. And the officers of the children of Israel, which the Pharaoh's taskmasters had set over them, were beaten and. And demanded, wherefore you have not fulfilled your task in the making of brick, both yesterday and today, as they're in heretofore. And. [00:07:21] And this is. This is exactly what has been going on. So he's not gonna. He's not gonna put. [00:07:32] So now we know that because they're falling behind, because now they have this extra heavy burden, they're going to cry out more. God is hearing every last thing. He knows that they are going to cry out more and more and more. [00:07:47] So Israel rejects Moses. Now the people are going to be mad. You know, Israel has come down. He's showing them the signs. If you remember, he took his hand out. He, you know, used his staff, turned it into a snake, picked it back on up by the tail and turn back into a staff. [00:08:02] Aaron is speaking for him, because Moses was. And which made God mad. Didn't even want to do any of this to begin with, okay. And God said, you're doing it. This is how it's going to happen, and you're going to do it. [00:08:17] So. And. And he tried to come up with every excuse he could. I'm not well with the. With speaking. I. You know, this is totally beyond me. [00:08:28] So here we. Here we are. Israel Rejects Moses, verse 15. And the officers of the children of Israel came and cried unto Pharaoh, saying, wherefore? Deal us with us or with any servants. There is no straw given unto thy servants. And they say to us, make brick, and behold thy servants are beaten. But the fault is in thy own people. [00:08:54] But he said, you're idle. You're idle. Therefore you say, let us go and do sacrifice to the Lord. Go therefore now and work, for there shall be no straw given to you, yet shall you just deliver the tale of bricks. And the officers of the children of Israel did see that they were in the evil case. After it was said, you shall not diminish ought from your bricks of your daily task. And then they met Moses and Aaron, who stood in the way as they came forth from Pharaoh and said unto them, the Lord, look upon you and judge, because ye have made our Savior to be aboard in the eyes of Pharaoh, in the eyes of his servants, to put a sword in their hand and slay us. And Moses returned to the Lord and said, wherefore has Thou so evil, entreated this people. Why is it that thou has sent me? For since I came to Pharaoh to speak in thy name, he has done evil to this people. [00:10:01] Whether thou has delivered thy people at all or neither has thou delivered my people at all. So now God is going back to the Lord and saying, look. Now all of a sudden, this guy, he. He's beating the people. He's doing this, and it's. It's become a huge burden on them. And they're crying out, so let's see what. What God is going to do here. How is this going to change here? So now we are on page 75, Exodus 6. [00:10:32] God reassures Moses. [00:10:35] Then the Lord said to Moses, now shall they see what I will do unto Pharaoh. For with the strong hand shall he let them go, and with the strong hand shall he drive them out of his land. And Pharaoh is. Now he's telling him, okay, I knew this was going to happen because I set it up this way. And now. And he told Moses, he's going to harden his heart. There's the first time of hardening his heart, okay? It's the questioning of God. Because Pharaoh thinks he doesn't believe in God. He doesn't know God. So he's got himself up here, and he's got God down here. Little does he know, and little as his small brain is able to process is that he has no idea who he's dealing with. So here we go. Then the Lord said unto Moses, now, with the strong hand shall he let them go, and with the strong hand shall he drive them out of his land. [00:11:35] It's not God driving me out. Pharaoh's going to drive them out. [00:11:40] It's. It's. You can see this analogy. This. You know, I'm not even gonna have to do this. Pharaoh's going to do it for me. So let's see. [00:11:51] And God spoke unto Moses and said unto him, I am the Lord. And again, there it is. I am so I am the Lord. Now he puts the Lord behind it. Or God. But when he was talking directly with Moses from the burning bush, it was, I am who I am. So it's very interesting. And I appeared unto Abraham and unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, by the name of God Almighty, Here we go. God Almighty. [00:12:28] But by my name, Jehovah, was I not known to them. [00:12:36] And I've also established my covenant with them, to give them the land of Canaan, the land of their pilgrimage, wherein they were strangers. And I have also heard the groaning of the children of Israel, whom The Egyptians keep in bondage and I have remembered my covenant. [00:12:57] So if we go back, you can remember all the different covenants that he had at different times, even with Abraham. [00:13:05] So telling him, you know, Isaac, he's going to be, from him is going to come a multitude. More than the stars, more than the sand, more than on the seashore, that's going to be the peoples. And of course he tested Abraham. If you remember, he's taking Isaac up to the mount, it's going to sacrifice him. And before he could do anything, the angel came and said, do not lay a hand on the lad. [00:13:34] He rescued him because God asked him to sacrifice him. [00:13:38] And you could see when we were looking at that the sacrifice that Abraham was willing to do to Isaac to please God. [00:13:51] And God acknowledged it and said, because you were willing to do this and acknowledged it, but are you not seeing something else ahead in the Bible as to the New Testament, God willing to sacrifice his own son and did Christ and us being able to comprehend that. But we, we see that a lot here because of what Abraham was going to do to Isaac to sacrifice him. And God said, because you're willing to do this. So a lot of this, you could, you, you could. Here we go. We're tying back and forth, always cross referencing and seeing things from the Old Testament to the New Testament, which is important. [00:14:41] So I have established my covenant with them to give them the land of Canaan, the land of pilgrimage, wherein were strangers. I have also heard the groaning of the children of Israel from whom the Egyptians keep in bondage. And I have remembered my covenant. Wherefore say unto the children of Israel, I am the Lord and I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians. And those burdens. What is that? That's a yoking. This is that yoking. We're talking about placing a yoke around it just like you would like an ox or anything else to get it to do what you want to do. So we're, we're looking at that. You can, you know, see these analogies here. You could see parallelism all over the place in this. [00:15:30] It's just, it's wonderful. [00:15:36] I will bring you from under the burdens of the Egyptians and I will rid you out of their bondage and I will redeem you with the stretched out arm and with great judgments and, and it's wonderful how this is going. And I will take you, and I will take you to me for a people. That's God saying, you are my chosen people and, and you're My people, okay? [00:16:09] I have you. You're my people. [00:16:12] Okay? God has chosen them. [00:16:17] And you say, why is that important? [00:16:20] Well, it's important for a couple of reasons. [00:16:26] It's in. It's important for a couple of reasons. [00:16:29] The biggest reason is, is that even though we choose to follow Christ, we choose to believe in Him. There are some that don't. That's. That free will deal. But in order to do that, first God has to choose us. [00:16:47] We don't choose him. He chooses us first. [00:16:51] And, and we're going to see this as, as we go on. But understand, we are chosen. And even Christ says in the New Testament, you can go to Luke. I believe it's Luke 15, you know, before you chose me, I already chose you. You know, you. You were already. I chose you. And then you have that choice to make. Okay, do I. Do I believe this? Do I not believe this? So it is important here to know this. God is making a very, very clear statement here. [00:17:29] I chose you. You are mine. [00:17:34] And, and again, we'll cover it one more time. Verse seven, we're on page 75, chapter six. [00:17:41] And here we go. I will take you to me for a people, and I will be to you a God. And ye shall know that I am the Lord your God, which bringeth you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians. [00:17:58] And I will bring you unto the land concerning the. Which I did swear to give it to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, and I will give it to you for an inheritance. [00:18:11] I am the Lord. [00:18:15] So there it is again, always starting off like that. I am. [00:18:21] And Moses spoke so unto the children of Israel, but they hearkened not unto Moses for anguish of the spirit and for the cruel bondage. So this is their testing right now. Okay? This is their testing. Understand? They're, they, you know, God is obviously not something that is not known yet. We already know that. He's known all the way from the beginning. [00:18:49] But to these people, their beatings, the extra workload and everything else that's going on, they're not listening. They're. They're seeing right before their eyes the bad things that are happening. And it makes a great point that it's very hard. [00:19:07] And again, you're gonna. You're gonna see how there is parallelism. And, and then there's also an analogy later on. And, and it, it. It goes back and forth, Old Testament, New Testament, that you kind of see the sower of the seed. [00:19:27] Drop seed on the ground. It's swallowed right up. Drop seed on the rock and great. They take it. But then it comes up, the sun comes up, doesn't have deep soil, gets scorched. Some seed is dropped into the thorns and thickets and it grows up just fine. And then the weeds choke it out. And then some seed is thrown on the ground and it takes root and it bears much fruit. The problem we have here is, well, they're stuck in the worldly things going on. The worldly things that are going on that are evil is Pharaoh and the Egyptians beating them, holding them in bondage and everything else. So they're not hearkening to the words of Moses because they're troubled. And when too much trouble in this world, it pulls you away from I am the Lord God. That's what it does. It pulls you away from God. So you, you could, you could see it. Now there it is kind of lining up with things that's discussed in the. The New Testament. So here we go. God recommissions, Moses. Okay, and. And here we go. [00:20:44] And the Lord spoke unto Moses, saying, go in, speak unto Pharaoh, king of Egypt, that he let the children of Israel go out of his land. And Moses spoke before the Lord saying, behold, the children of Israel have not hearkened unto me. How then shall Pharaoh hear me who am of uncircumcised land lips? [00:21:10] Why is he saying that? [00:21:15] Why. Why is that such an important thing right now? The uncircumcised lips. [00:21:22] So you can kind of see where we're. We're having a problem here. And Moses is questioning himself now. And of course, God is recommissioning him and reassuring him and telling him, no, this is just the beginning. Let's keep going forth. This, this is building faith. This is. This is, you know, endurance. This is building pretty much all the good things that, that Paul is going to speak. Whatever is beautiful, whatever is loving, whatever is gentle, whatever is. I mean, it's going in there. But in order to get to those things, in order to have that mindset and everything else, you have to understand that you're going to go through hardships, anguish, just everything in order to become closer to God. Okay? It's not all roses. It's not all everything. And then Christ himself says, listen, just remember, you're. You're following me and you're going to get slain for it and, and troubles and everything else. But remember, they hated me first, so they're kind of going through the same thing here. All right, so let's go. [00:22:38] And Moses spoke before the Lord, and you caught that part. [00:22:44] Who am of uncircumcised lips. And the Lord spoke unto Moses and unto Aaron and gave them a charge unto the children of Israel and unto Pharaoh, king of Egypt, to bring the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt. These are the heads of their father's houses, the sons of Reuben, the firstborn in Israel, Hanak and Palu and Hezron and Kermi. And these are the families of Reuben and the sons of Simeon. And. And I think that when we're getting into this, and of course, I'm terrible with these names, so please don't hold that against me. They're very hard to pronounce. [00:23:26] The dialect is completely different. I do the best that I can here. [00:23:31] But it's important because it's not only showing a timeline, it's also showing how they are part of this, this whole family and everything else. And. And I think that it's. It's really important. Where did Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, or Israel, since we know his name was changed, come from? Who, what, what's the lineage here? It also gives a timeline. It also, it gives all the events and everything else. And the sons of Simeon, Jamiel and Jamin and Ohad and Jin and Zohar and Shulu and the son of the cane, Canatish, the women. And these are the families of Simeon. And these are the names of the sons of Levi according to their generations, Gershon and Koeth and Mariah. And the years of the life of The Levi were 130 and seven years. And the sons of Gershon, Libnai and. And Shim, Shimmy. And according to their families, and the sons of Korah, Amram and Ishar and Hebron and Uziel. And the years of the life of Korath were 130 and three years. And the sons of Maramry and Mahali and Mushi. And these are the families of Levi according to their generations. And Amram took him Jochebed, his father's sister, to wife, and she bear him Aaron and Moses. And the years of their life of Aaron were 130 and seven years. And the sons of Isar and Korah and Nephek and Zikri and the sons of Uziel and Michiel and Elsafan and Zareth. And Aaron took him El Shaba and the daughter of Ammon or Amina, Amadab and the sister of Nash to wife, and she bore him Nadab and Abihu and Eleazar and Ithamar. Now you know that these are. These are Aaron's children. He's talking about now you're seeing the lineage from Moses and Aaron's family here. That's how far we have, we have gone back and all the way through the generations. And Eleazar, Aaron's son, took him, one of the daughters of Pudio to wife, and she bore him Phinehas. And these are the heads of the fathers of the Levites, according to their families. These are that Aaron and Moses, to whom the Lord said, bring out the children of Israel from the land of Egypt according to their armies. And these are they which spoke to Pharaoh to. Spoke to Pharaoh, King of Egypt, to bring out of the children of Israel from Egypt. These are that Moses and Aaron. So now we know Moses and Aaron's entire family, the lineage and, and the generations of it. And as you can see, it's important to know that because he has charged Moses and Aaron, you will do this. You're going to do this. [00:27:02] And it, you know this, this is the way that he wants it done. And now we're going to see Moses can do a little testing here. So let's see what happens. [00:27:17] So here we are, we're on verse 28, chapter 6, Exodus 75, King James Version. And it came to pass on the day when the Lord spoke unto Moses in the land of Egypt, that the Lord spoken to Moses, saying, I am the Lord, speak thou unto Pharaoh, king of Egypt, all that I say unto thee. And Moses said before the Lord, behold, I, I am of uncircumcised lips. And how shall Pharaoh hearken unto me? And because for whatever reason in this circumcised and uncircumcised, what we're going to find out later on in the New Testament is be circumcised or uncircumcised, Jew or Gentile, does not matter. But you're going to see that this is kind of a, a, a man made thing here for, for just right here in this, in this part, that this is why he's not going to do this. I am on uncircumcised lips like he's an animal. So let's take a look to see how this, this plays out. [00:28:26] So God again, here he is, you know, in Exodus 7, he's reassuring Moses. And the Lord said unto Moses, see, I have made the a God to Pharaoh. [00:28:37] And Aaron, thy brother shall be thy prophet. [00:28:42] God is, he's going to make it to where Pharaoh is looking upon him as a God. [00:28:50] Okay, not he is a God, like a God. So let's cover it again. See I have made the a God to Pharaoh. And thy brother shall be a prophet. [00:29:04] Thou shall speak all that I command unto thee. And Aaron and thy brother shall speak unto Pharaoh that he send the children of Israel out of his land. And I will harden Pharaoh's heart and multiply my signs and my wonders in the land of Egypt. [00:29:21] And, and it's very important right here. We're going to stop right there just for a second on, on verse three. We're going to be on verse four, chapter seven. [00:29:34] What is God establishing here before not only Moses and Aaron, but before Pharaoh? [00:29:43] See, Pharaoh doesn't believe in God. [00:29:46] I know of no, no voice that you're hearing or anything else. I give him no credit, no credibility. You know, they had idols and everything else, calves, rams, whatever. [00:30:00] They did not have any obedience at all to God. But what we're establishing here is God is going to show him with actions, things that he can see with his own eyes, that he is. I am the Lord, he is God. [00:30:19] So I think that these signs and wonders and understand it says my, my wonders in the land of Egypt. Things that only he can do. Only that nobody else can do, only he can do. And he's going to do it through Moses and through Aaron and then on his own also. [00:30:39] So here we go. [00:30:41] But Pharaoh should not hearken unto you that I may lay my hand upon Egypt and bring forth my armies and the people of the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt by great judgments. And the Egyptians shall know that I am the Lord when I stretch forth my hand upon Egypt and bring out the children of Israel from among them. And Moses and Aaron did as the Lord commanded them. So they did. So did they. And Moses was a four was fourscore years old and Aaron four score and three years old when they spoke unto Pharaoh. So we're seeing 40, 43 year old, 40 year old. And they're talking to Pharaoh, king of Egypt, and letting him know, you're not king. Okay, you might be king of Egypt or here on earth, you're not king. My God will trump you every time. And I'm telling you this. And now God is hardening Pharaoh's heart. That shows you the power. It's making us understand the power of God. And how. [00:31:52] Just, just elaborate, eloquent plan that he has of. And we might ask ourselves, well, if God wanted it done, why is he just wasting time? He's God. Why doesn't he just do it? There's a reason for everything. Okay, There, there. God has this plan that is beyond Us outside of, us outside of our thinking, outside of our understanding. And, and we're going to see a lot of this all through the Bible, okay? And understand, he's not, he's not one of these overbearing, you know, like we are on earth. We're overbearing sometimes and we're watching everyone do every task that's done. [00:32:34] Controlling God is handling things. But actually it's, it's Moses and Aaron that are doing it. But God is not going to just come in there and just say, okay, I'm done with evil and let this play out. No, he wants us to learn. He wants us to make that decision. [00:32:54] Okay? He knows who's not going to choose or, or choose and, and not follow or who is. He already determined that. [00:33:03] But how far are we willing to go? [00:33:06] And this is kind of one of these deals that we're going to check it out. [00:33:13] So now, here we are. Verse 8, chapter 7. And the Lord spoke unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying, when Pharaoh shall speak unto you, saying, show a miracle for you, then thou shall say unto Aaron, take thy rod and cast it before Pharaoh and it shall become a serpent. [00:33:35] Again, here's parallelism. Here we go. And, and really it's, it's wonderful because in the, in the New Testament, in Matthew, Christ says, they were like, well, show us a sign. And he said, you, you know, you serpents, you all want to see a sign. There'll be no sign given. [00:33:58] Everybody has to see with their eyes. They got to see it and, and to believe it and everything else. [00:34:06] And it makes a great point. [00:34:10] Pharaoh wants to see. Show me some sign. Show me what you got, okay? And that's how people are. That, that, that is our inherent evilness that is inside of us, our sin that's inside of us. Everyone wants a sign, okay? You don't need a sign to breathe, do you? You don't see the air, but you know it's there. [00:34:34] I mean, it's incredible to me that in order for it to believe, you must see it. [00:34:43] So, and Moses and Aaron went into, to Pharaoh and they did so as the Lord had commanded and cast down his rod before Pharaoh and before his servants, and it became a serpent. Then Pharaoh also called the wise men and the sorcerers, now the magicians of Egypt, they also did in like manner their enchantments, for they cast down every man his rod and they became serpents. But Aaron's rod swallowed up their rods. And he hearkened unto Pharaoh's heart, that he hearkened not unto Them. As the Lord had said, God hardened his heart, okay? His magicians and everyone else threw down their rods. They became serpents, too. [00:35:29] But Aaron, Moses's rod that Aaron threw down ate their rods, ate their serpents, okay? Swallowed them up, which is a metaphor. [00:35:44] You think you're powerful. [00:35:47] I just ate you. [00:35:49] I'm more powerful. And. And you. You could kind of see this is going to take place a lot. [00:35:58] So Pharaoh's heart's hardened again. [00:36:02] Now we're getting to the first plague, and we're going to go through 10 of these. And it's wonderful because there is a huge lesson. And you would think when you see something like that with. With the rods. Aaron's rod swallowed up their rods. [00:36:21] Good enough for me, man. I'm in. Okay, Here you go. All you people have a good day. God bless, take care, and be done. But human beings are a stiff, naked people. [00:36:34] God says this, okay? At one point, he was like, I should have never made man, if you remember. And. And people are questioning, like, well, he repents. Well, why is God repenting? Is he sorry for what he did? Is he. You know, is he admitting he made a mistake? No. [00:36:51] Okay. Not at all. That's. [00:36:56] It's almost like being able to read this poetically. [00:37:00] He's not sorry for what he did. [00:37:03] Sorry for the way that we chose. We made the choice. We had free will. [00:37:09] So when I look at that, it's. It's. It's like, okay, disappointment. Okay? Disappointment in us. Who wouldn't be disappointed? Are you not disappointed in how the world behaves today? With wars, with everything that goes on? Or maybe with. With your children or your boss or everything else? We're disappointed. [00:37:33] You don't think God's not disappointed with us for everything that we have done? We. We have been. I. I mean, he's trying to give us the best of the best, but we keep choosing poorly. We make decisions, poor decisions. [00:37:50] So, of course, this is how we. We've gotten to this place. Now Pharaoh's making poor decisions, but God is controlling that. He is hardening Pharaoh's heart, and he's making a point to them. I need to show them that I am the Lord. [00:38:06] And I'm showing at the same time, you are my chosen people. [00:38:12] You have to trust me. I have chose you out of everybody. But I'm keeping my covenant, my promise to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob or Israel, you know, So I am an honest and a just God. [00:38:29] So here we go. And the Lord said unto Moses, pharaoh's heart is hardened. He refuses to Let the people go. Get thee unto Pharaoh in the morning. Lo, he goeth out unto the water, and thou shalt stand by the river's bank against. [00:38:47] Against he come. And the rod which he turned into his serpent shall. Shall thou take in thy hand. And thou shall say unto him, the Lord God of the Hebrews has sent me unto thee, saying, let my people go, that they may serve me in the wilderness. And behold, here thereto thou would not. Would us not hear. [00:39:13] Thus said the Lord. In this shall thou know that I am the Lord. Behold, I will smite the rod that is in my hand upon the waters which are in the river, and they shall be turned to blood. This is the first plague that God has laid upon them through Moses and Aaron to give Pharaoh a taste of. You don't know who you're dealing with. [00:39:41] I am the creator of the heavens and the earth and everything under the cloud, you know, under the heavens and below that I. I made it all. [00:39:56] And the fish that is in the river shall die, and the river shall stink, and the Egyptians shall loathe to drink the water of the river. And the Lord spoke unto Moses, saying to Aaron, take thy rod and stretch it out in thy hand upon the waters of Egypt and upon their streams and upon their rivers and upon their ponds and upon all their pools of water, they may become blood. And that there may be blood throughout the land of Egypt, both in vessels of wood and in vessels of stone. [00:40:24] And this also here, why blood? [00:40:30] Okay. Why doesn't he just dry them up? [00:40:33] But we're going to find out later on. The Lamb, the cornerstone, Christ shed his blood for us. [00:40:42] So I. I'm. I. I see this, and I understand that there's. There's so many different ways to see this, but you can see Christ's blood will be spilled, and the river is turning to blood. And we also know in Revelations, the rivers will become. And. And the seas will become as blood. [00:41:06] Boom, boom, boom. All the way down the line. And you. You can kind of see this all playing out. [00:41:14] My belief is we knew Christ was coming not only from Jacob's dream and everything else. Remember, he put his head on the rocks and used it as a pillow and then put it by the ladder where he saw in his dream the angels descending up and down, you know, a narrow ladder. [00:41:34] So Christ then saying in the New Testament, narrow is the path, narrow is the gate to come into the kingdom of my Father. And wide is the path, and wide is the gate that leads to destruction. [00:41:51] These analogies, these different things that are going on. You could kind of see it playing out all the way from the Old Testament. It's just a matter of catching it because there's so much going on in the background. [00:42:03] You know, I, I just, I, I love it. But I'm seeing all this. [00:42:07] And Moses and Aaron did so, and the Lord commanded and he lifted up the rod and smoked the waters in the river in the sight of Pharaoh and in the sight of his servants. And all the waters in the river were turned to blood. Why in the sight of his servants too? Because these are people that are witnesses. These are people that are also with Pharaoh. You know, they're serving Pharaoh. They're making sure things are getting done. The bricks, the straw, the mortar, everything being done. [00:42:36] And, and they're serving him at the same time. So God wants it done in everybody's sight. Everybody. So everybody knows who he is. I am the Lord. [00:42:48] And the fish that was in the river died and the river stank. And the Egyptians could not drink of the water of the river. There was blood throughout all the land of Egypt. [00:42:59] And it's very interesting too because if you remember, Christ comes out of Egypt also after he goes in there, so Herod could not kill him. He leaves the jurisdiction and he goes down there and, and then comes out and he will be called out. And we know this from Isaiah and, and Jeremiah and, and Isaiah. Isaiah. Wow, great book. But so again you're seeing that, again that parallelism a little bit and, and seeing how this is really playing out here. And the magicians of Egypt did with their intent, enchantments. And the Pharaoh's heart was hardened, and neither did he hearken unto them, as the Lord had said. And Pharaoh turned and went into his house. Neither did he set his heart to, to hear to his heart also. And all the Egyptians digged around about the river for water to drink, for they could not drink of the water of the river. And seven days were fulfilled after that. The Lord had smitten the river. [00:44:11] And here we go now we're going to come into chapter eight and we're going to get into the second plague here. [00:44:19] Pay attention to everything in the background because that's where we're getting a lot of the information. It's very hard to see and everything else, but the more that I kept reading it and this is like my fifth time reading the Bible, I'm by no means any expert or anything like that, but these are some of the little things that I'm, that I am seeing in it. And I make mention of it. Because that's how I am interpreting it. That's how I am seeing it. [00:44:44] So here we are. Here we go. The second plague. The frogs. And the Lord spoke unto Moses, go into Pharaoh and say unto him, thus said the Lord, let my people go that they may serve me. [00:44:57] And if thou refuse to let them go, behold, I will smite all thy borders with frogs. And the river shall bring forth frogs abundantly, which shall go up and come into thy house and into thy bedchamber, and upon thy bed, and into the house of thy servants, and upon thy people and into thy. Thy ovens and into thy kneading troughs. And the frogs shall come up both on. On thee and upon thy people and upon thy servants. [00:45:30] And he's including everybody. He's letting them know. [00:45:36] And the Lord spoken to Moses, say unto Aaron, stretch forth thy hand with thy rod over the streams, over the rivers and over the ponds, and cause the frogs to come up upon the land of Egypt. And Aaron stretched out his hand over the waters of Egypt. And the frogs came up and covered the land of Egypt. And the magicians did so with their enchantments and brought up frogs upon the land of Egypt. Then Pharaoh called for Moses and Aaron and said, entreat the Lord that he may take away the frogs from me and from my people. And I will let the people go, that they may do sacrifice unto the Lord. And Moses said unto Pharaoh, glory over me. For for thy people to destroy the frogs from thee and thy houses, that they may remain in the river only. And he said, tomorrow. And he said, be it according to thy word that thou mayest know that there is none like unto the Lord our God. Now, what is. What does Moses said right there? [00:46:45] He's letting Pharaoh know unto. Like. Like unto the Lord our God. [00:46:54] Not just the Israelites. He's letting him know you're God too. Understand this. This is your God too. [00:47:02] Our God, which. It's very important to hear this. And so Pharaoh said, okay. So his enchanters couldn't get rid of him, couldn't get rid of the blood or anything else. And now Pharaoh is starting to see. Okay, you know what? [00:47:20] Go ahead. I. I will go ahead and do it tomorrow and get rid of these frogs. Clean up the water. Get rid of the frogs. [00:47:29] So and Moses and Aaron went out from Pharaoh. And Moses cried unto the Lord because of the frogs which he had brought against Pharaoh. And the Lord did accordingly to the word of Moses. And the frogs dried out, died, died out of the houses, out of the villages. And out of the fields, and they gathered them together upon heaps, and the land stank. But when Pharaoh saw that there was respite, he hardened his heart and hearkened not unto them, as the Lord had said. So God said, I'm. He's going to harden his heart again. We're going to clean this up and everything else, but he's not going to listen. And the Lord spoken to Moses, saying, and here we go. Here's the third plague. Now, if this one doesn't do it, you're. You're probably thinking to yourselves, how can this not happen? And the Lord said unto Moses, say unto Aaron, stretch out thy rod and smite the dust of the land, that it may become lice throughout all the land of Egypt. And they did so, for Aaron stretched out his hand with his rod and smote the dust of the earth, and it became lice in man and in beasts. And all the dust of the land became lice throughout the land of Egypt. And the magicians did so with their enchantments to bring forth lice, but they could not, so there were lice upon man and upon beast. And the magicians said unto Pharaoh, this is the finger of God. And Pharaoh's heart was hardened, and he. And he hearkened not unto them, as the Lord said, his own people now have said, okay, whoa, wait a minute here. We can't match this. No way. So you. You need to listen here and. And. And do this. We can't do this. They know now their place. They can't compete. [00:49:17] And the Lord said unto Moses, rise up early in the morning and stand before Pharaoh. Lo, he cometh forth to the water and say unto him, thus saith the Lord, Let my people go, that they may serve me. Else, if you will not let my people go, behold, I will send swarms of flies upon thee and upon thy servants and upon thy people and into thy houses. [00:49:41] And the houses. [00:49:44] Excuse me, guys. Sorry. [00:49:46] Oh, I apologize. Sorry. [00:49:50] And into thy houses and the houses of the Egyptians shall be full swarms of flies and also the ground, whereupon they are. And I will server in the day of the land of Goshen, in which my people dwell, that no swarms or flies shall be there to the end. Thou mayest know that I am the Lord in the midst of the earth. [00:50:15] So he. He's. He's separate from earth. He's separate from everything else. He's in it through and around it, just everywhere. But he's trying to show his. His power to Pharaoh and Pharaoh's Just not listening to anything. I mean, it wouldn't have taken frogs or bloody river or. Or lice to get me to listen. And, you know, when we sit here and read this. But back in those days, understand you're talking to an atheist or somebody that just doesn't have any knowledge of God at all. So he has been taught about this. He knew of other gods and everything else, but he's not learning yet about the Lord God. So, and the Lord did so. And there came a grievous swarm of flies into the house of Pharaoh and unto his servants and into all the land of Egypt. And the land was corrupted by reason of the swarm of flies. [00:51:21] And Pharaoh called for Moses and for Aaron and said, go ye sacrifice to your God in the land. And Moses said, it is not meat so to do. [00:51:34] For we shall sacrifice the abomination of the Egyptians to the Lord our God. Lo, we shall sacrifice the abomination of the Egyptians before their eyes. And they. [00:51:47] And will they not stone us? We will go three days journey into the wilderness and sacrifice to the Lord our God as he shall command us. [00:51:59] And Pharaoh said, I will let you go that you may sacrifice to your. To the Lord your God in the wilderness. Only you shall not go very far away. Entreat. Entreat for me. [00:52:14] So he said, don't go far. [00:52:17] Do this. I'm going to go ahead and do this. And treat me here, give me. Give me an inch here. Okay. And Moses said, behold, I will go out from thee and I will entreat the Lord that the swarms of flies may depart from Pharaoh and from his servants and from his people tomorrow. But not let Pharaoh deal deceitfully anymore in not letting the people go to the sacrifice to the Lord. And when Moses went out from Pharaoh and entreated the Lord, and the Lord did, according to the word of Moses. Now, see, Pharaoh has asked him to go out and treat him. Don't go far, you know, Give me a little wiggle room here. Ask God to take away the flies and everything else. Now you hear Moses saying, don't go back on your word again. Now he's. He's telling Pharaoh, listen, you know, don't. Don't be deceitful here, okay? We've already done that. Don't do it again. [00:53:16] And the Lord did, according to the word of Moses, and he removed the swarm of flies from Pharaoh from. From his servants and from his people. There remained not one. And Pharaoh hardened his heart at this time also. Neither would he let the people go. [00:53:33] And so. [00:53:44] So Here we are now. And oh, I got my page stuck together. And now we're getting to chapter nine, Exodus nine, and we're going on the fifth plague, the disease on beasts. So Pharaoh has not kept his word. God has hardened his heart again and Pharaoh is not going to keep his word. So here we go. [00:54:08] And actually we're going to stop there. We're going to stop there because I got about four minutes left. [00:54:15] But we see this all the time. We see this in everyday life. We see this all the time. [00:54:23] We're humans and that's what we are. And are we not like Pharaoh in a lot of ways? [00:54:30] We harden our own hearts. [00:54:34] We, we have lost our empathy, sympathy, compassion and love. And we see that on how we do that. And it's not just, it's everybody, our leaders and everybody else. And I think that a lot of this is an example of why we need to read the Bible and, and why we need to have this to us. And you have to know the whole thing. A lot of people are like, well, you just need to know the New Testament. Well, no, because the Old Testament is what develops the New Testament. It's what comes along. It's the leading up to, okay, so Judea, going into Christianity or however you interpret it or see it. But it's important to know what is happening as we're reading along here so that we understand God. Because as you're going to see as we go along how merciful and gracious God is. And you might say, oh, he's ruthless. Have you read, have you read the Old Testament? But the truth is, is that he's not. And his yoke is easy. And it's, it's, you can get rest and everything else. [00:55:52] Are we not obedient to somebody in this world? You're obedient to your boss. He's obedient to his bosses or, or the people that give him work. [00:56:03] You know, there's, there's obedience in the military. There's obedience in, in, in the presidency. Understand? President can't just go and do every single thing he wants. He's got a whole world around him that has things going on and they're going to demand answers. And why I could say, listen, we're from the United States. We'll do whatever we want. Well, we've known a couple people that tried to do that, Hitler being one of them. And how did that work out so well? And he was cruel like Pharaoh, ruthless. So we all answer, who do you want to answer to? One that is loving one that is giving one, that is gracious, one that will blot out all your sins, all the bad things you have, and never speak of them again. [00:56:49] Wow. [00:56:50] Or you go that other route. It's up to you. [00:56:56] But, you know, and we're. And we like to do this stuff. We're just a very stiff neck people. And then we're like, well, why did God give me this disease? Why did this happen? Why did that happen? [00:57:10] Well, the reason that I got into the Bible, you guys, was I had a very hard time. And I'll talk about some of this later on, but I had a very hard time enjoying life, appreciating life, finding value in life. [00:57:32] And I'll get into that later. But this at least serves as even a glimmer of hope and, and everything else. But as we get into that, I'll explain how I got into all of this and why I got into all of this. [00:57:52] It's the greatest true love story that has ever been written, and it's factual and it's wonderful. And now that I go through it, and here's my fifth time reading it, and we've come far, understand? We have. We've come far already. [00:58:07] But we're going to get here on chapter nine, page 78, Exodus 9. And we're going to stop right here. And today is 1, 2, 25. That's going to be hard to get used to for about a week or two. [00:58:29] I think we all have a lot to learn, and not only about how we're, how we relate to this world and we relate to other people, but how we relate to each other in ourselves. And it's, it's. It's a very humbling experience to see yourself in this ugly light. And I think that as we learn to go on and we go through this book and we follow God, I think that you're going to find, like I did is that no matter how bad I look and how bad that I may seem in this world, he loves me without question. [00:59:16] And I'm created in his image. And I think that's amazing. And we all are. That's the great part about it, is every one of us are. And he doesn't give us a thing. He understands. He's not giving us sickness or anything else. [00:59:34] He's just telling us how we can handle it, showing us how we can get through it. So even though he created the sickness or whatever else he, you know, it's really cool. It's just how we look at it. It's just how we understand it. And I think it comes to each of us as a calling, a blessing, believe it or not. [00:59:58] Might not feel like it now, but it is. And learning to accept that is. Is. Is very, very difficult. So, anyway, we're starting the new year. [01:00:11] Thank you, Father, for letting us read this. This book you have given us in the words. And I hope that I am articulating them well enough to be able to share with people on here. [01:00:24] I thank you so much for just taking the time to. To be here with us as we share these words. Thank you, God. Watch over us and protect us. And we love you. Thank you, God, for loving us. Take care, guys, and I'll see you this next time. All right?
