We've got a tumbler. We've got network mouse pads. Oh, my goodness. All the stuff that we have. Hey, all that money, when you buy merchandise, it goes into paying for airtime for the show, because airtime is not free.
I donate for a BMI music license that we have to have and to play any music at all, we have to have that license. And so I donate for that. And I do that every year. And that's, that's one of my little freebies. I always give the station. I always like doing that to help support the station. And you can support the station, too, if you want. You could do your own show.
Yeah, you could. You could do your own show. All you have to do is go through all this stuff. You can do your own show. Just news and information. You can contact us. All you have to do, there's a little blue button up here in the right hand side and let me make sure it's on the screen.
Is it?
Why it's there? It is.
And all you have to do is just go ahead and click on that and a little box will show up. May we help you or can we help you? Okay. All you do is click on that and say, hey, I want to do my own show. It's very easy to do. Stu said I can do it.

Okay? So that's what we've got with our little network here. And I'll tell you what, we go all over the world, and that's one of the benefits of Internet radio because we are heard in different countries. I've had responses from Myanmar or Myanmar, which is Burma. I've had responses from South Africa, India, other parts of Africa. I've had responses back from Europe. I've had responses back from North America, including Canada, my good buddies up in Canada and also elsewhere around the world.
And hey, we're on twenty four seven.
And that's the way we like to be. You know, we cut the bowl and we serve the truth and that's what we want to do. So check us out, trimradio.com and join us. Okay. We have some good shows, especially around the band, ranch it up, Life Walk with Christ, God, take point 22.
Positude podcast we've got Victoria Smith. Oh, you have to check out her Natural Marketer podcast. You really do. She's got some really good ideas about marketing and she's, she's a whiz at it. So you have to check out natural Marketer podcast with Victoria Smith. Okay. Wow.
Let's get out of that. Let's go to our Facebook page. And I want to make sure that that is going to be showing here really quickly, providing I hit the right button.
And if you do, you'll see our Facebook page and our Facebook page that we have. I have right now. Our shout outs. Yeah, if you want us to support our shout outs, that's great, too. You know, we have the trim radio network, and I got to give them a big shout out for carrying the show. Oh, for all these years, I've been on other networks, too. And I'll tell you what, I really, really have fun right here on the Trim radio network. Great people to work with. And you would, too, if you do your own show. But anyhow, the Trim radio network, a big shout out to them. Great people. And I can, I'll just tell you this, Michael Bayhas is fantastic. Rascal is fantastic, Victoria's fantastic, everybody is.
And we're all over the world. A big shout out to the University of Finley at www.findlyy.edu.
and I talk about the University of Finley plenty of times.
I went to so many different schools. But I'll tell you what, my allegiance is at the University of Findlay, Ohio University and Xavier University in Cincinnati.
But the University of Findlay is where this all began. Basically. It's a good school, NCAA Division two sports school. They will be merging, actually, Bluffton University will be merging with the University of Finley this fall. And you'll be able to take classes on either campus. They're about 20 miles apart. The University of Findlay has three campuses in Findlay, Ohio. It's an all american city. And you can either go to the Hazmat materials campus or you can go to the main campus where you have all of your basic courses. And also they have their bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees there. And if you're in physical therapy or, oh, let's put it this way, physical therapy education and pharmacy, they all have doctoral degrees, six year program. Very good school. Very good school, especially physical therapy. They are outstanding because I've had to use them a couple of times. They are fantastic people. Okay, check them out. The University of Finley. Also, we have rusty ducks custom pens and blanks. And Phil over at Rusty Ducks custom pens and blanks. He does some great design work. And he makes these custom blanks in the center. You tell him what you want for design for a pen that you might want to build yourself. He will make it for you.
And both Michael Behoss and I have purchased pens from Phil over at Rusty Ducks custom pension. They are beautiful.
And I'll tell you what, Michael Bay has a car that he's been working on, and he has a custom pen that was designed for that car. I'll tell you what, Phil does a fantastic job. And he's, he's been in trade shows in Japan. He's been at Walt Disney World in Orlando and other places, different trade shows. He does an excellent job with his pens. And if you like the second amendment and you want a second amendment pen, he has a couple of different varieties. Okay. You can check him out on facebook. Okay. Rusty ducks, custom pens and blanks.
And of course, you know, we talked about the University of Finley, but you want to check them out. It's a good school, and they're very good in sports. Matter of fact, they're women's golf team was nationally ranked.
And this fall, we'll see how football and again, basketball will be. They have good programs there, good facilities. They really do.
Wow. Of course, we give the plug for money and change every Sunday at 07:00 p.m. and I'm doing research right up to the show. I mean, really within 15 minutes of the show, I have to have everything set up and the research done, and it could change basically half an hour before the show. And I'll have things as current as I can possibly get them and bring them to your attention, of course. Then we have my world tongue tied tonight.
Live, laughing, whatever. It's Wednesday at 08:00 p.m. and we can joke around, have fun, talk about just about anything.
You guys can sit back and relax. And this last week, we had different comedians on, and we had a good time. So you have to join us every Wednesday at 08:00 p.m. hey, I've got some friends on YouTube you need to know about, too, and I'm posting them here on the screen. You can see them. Appalachia's homestead with Patara.
And you have to check her out. She was on today and she was talking about being prepared and things that are going on in the world, and you need to check her out. Also, there's countryside acres. This is new. And somehow my typing got bad.
But anyhow, it's countryside acres with Aaron Feenstra and family.
We'll get this corrected, but they are building a house in Russia, believe it or not, it's a stick build house. They're showing people over there how we build houses over here. They like to use concrete, concrete block. Well, Aaron's building one from. It's a stick built, basically lumber. Okay. And he's been building homes for a long time. He decided to immigrate, and he's bought some beautiful farmland, and he's building a house there. And his videos, he'll have several a week, and it will talk about how he's building the house, some of the problems he runs into, and the communication problems and so forth. And I'm finding out that in some of his videos, even though people cannot talk, you can use your phone with a Google translate button, and you can go ahead and talk into the phone. It translates into Russian, and then the Russian could talk into the phone and translate to english communication. Is there a lot of people over there know some basic English, but to learn Russian, uh, from Canada or the United States, it's a different lettering system and different phonetic type system, and it's, it can be difficult. But anyhow, he's doing those videos and showing his trials and tribulations and how his family works together as a home unit. I think a lot of families here ought to take a hint from Aaron Feenstra. Well, we've also got countryside acres. We've got big family homestead with Brad and Krista. We've got deep south homestead with Danny and Wanda king down in Wiggins, Mississippi. And they're getting ready to go to Pecan Grove.
And they'll eventually sell their big family homes, or their deep south homestead, and they'll be moving to Pecan Grove. They're going to redevelop that type area there.
Also, we have LDs prepper with David Gilmore. I've talked to Dave several times. I'll tell you what. He's got over 600 videos on YouTube, doing various things. One thing that Dave did for me, he talked me into GMRS radios. Now, I don't know. I'm going to check to see if that's on the screen. I have to check, because if I hold this thing the wrong way, I have a problem. Okay, here it is. This is a ocean 935 g radio. And basically I can talk from my house to Dayton, Ohio, 35 miles away, to the repeater, and then from there, about 90 miles out, all of my relatives.
You can get these radios too. If you're a family member and you have one license for $35 for ten years, anybody in your family can use it. So in an emergency, if the phones don't work, and your relatives have these GMRS radios and your family has these, these are great to communicate with. These will work when the phones don't. Okay. Especially cell phones. If cell phone towers go down, these will work.
And this is an ocean wou Xun 935 g plus, they're all different kinds of varieties. This is a little bit more expensive variety, but it is excellent. Okay. And it's got a Nagoya 771 g antenna, which is fantastic. That allows me to talk all the way 35 miles away. It's great. And it's a good little hobby. You get to know different people. Okay, so much for that little plug. I don't make any money for doing this, but in case of preparedness, and we have problems, guess what? Those radios come in handy when the cell phones don't want to work.
So it's a good thing. Okay. And you can do a lot of different things with it.
Well, let's see here. What else we've got going on.
Well, oh, yeah. Getting back to the page we have right here going on, we have Dave Gilmore, of course. Then we have Patriot nurse, which is Rachel. She talks about medical issues and other things. And she's great. She's very, very intelligent. She's out of the state of Tennessee. And also we have prepper nurse one, which is Ed Carswell, and he's in West Virginia. And he's in the process of building a little camping village, I'll put it that way.
Trials and tribulations about building on the side of a hill.
And it's a beautiful territory, and it's just a lot of prep work for things, for tiny homes and things. But check him out also. Prepper princess with Amber stork. Now, prepper princess, she's a super person. She lives frugally.
I mean, she knows how to stretch her buck. So much so that she's a self made millionaire. The technical term would be millionaires, but she is a self made millionaire, okay? And I'll tell you, she has a lot of different things. She talks about the economy. She talks about how to save money. Living beneath your means, okay?
Why drive a Cadillac when you can drive a Chevy or Toyota or whatever? Live beneath your means, okay?
Or like, people here in the midwest like to say, going whole hog.
Even though big cars are nice, sometimes they get awful expensive to repair. Okay, so check her out. I mean, Amber is fantastic. She does have a book.
I have not read the book yet, but she does have one out on living frugally. Also, southern prepper one with Dave Kobler. I've known Dave for, boom, gee, probably 15 years, maybe 16.
And he's down in South Carolina. I mean, he's so close to North Carolina, he could spit over the hill and be there.
But he talks a lot about prepping and the world economy. And so forth, and he does a really good job of it. And then we also have a newcomer, which is the max. You have to check them out.
He talks about current events and a lot of stuff that's going on. And he's a pretty intelligent person. He's out of the eastern part of Mississippi and beautiful backdrops on his farm. Yeah, these, these, all these guys have farms, but they also do some prepping and things. It's a pretty decent deal. Okay, let's see here. What other trouble can I get into?
Let's see. We got to get into the information.
Did I do a disclaimer?
I better do that. The information contained in this presented material is from posting of news agencies on the Internet and are not necessarily the viewer opinions of the owners of this program. Nothing in this show should be considered as legal, medical, financial or investment advice. You should always do your own research and consult with professionals. We are not responsible for and expressly disclaimer all liability for damages of any kind arising out of use, reference to or reliance on any information contained in this broadcast. Oh, yeah. And our BMI music license is 6105-1658 and it's posted up in the left hand corner.
Oh, where's my hand?
Well, that's the right hand corner. Oh, it's all the way up here. Right there. The BMI music. Okay. Wow. Let's get into the show because we've got a lot of stuff to talk about. Let's see what we're going to do.
We are going to talk about public service announcement.
I have to do a few of those each year, and when these are important, I always get them out. If you take a look at the screen, there was an article in USA Today, beware of giant spiders.
Thousands of tarantulas to emerge in three states for mating season.
And this was Julia Gomez at USA Today. I put that out and it's, she says, no, it's not an omen of or a weird biblical sign of the apocalypse. Thousands of tarantulas are venturing out to find mates just in time for the start of the Halloween season.
Well, what's happening is that these males are out looking for females.
And Lauren Davidson, who's an entomologist at the Houston Museum of Natural Science Cockerel Butterfly center, told USA Today the brown tarantula mating season takes place from late August through October, October, according to USA Today, and they did previous reporting on it. But while tarantulas in Texas just finished their mating season, tarantulas in Colorado, Kansas and New Mexico will be venturing out of their homes in search of a mate of.
Now, here in Ohio, I don't think we have tarantulas, but we do have brown recluse spiders and we do have black widow spiders on occasion. Um, those are highly venomous. Okay. If you get bit by a tarantula, oh, it's going to hurt, but it's not going to kill you. If you have the brown recluse or a little spider with nice little hourglass on the back, the black widow, and you get bit by those, yeah, you can get very sick and you can die. Okay. But watch out for the tarantula mating season.
I wouldn't especially like to be in that situation. I don't really like spiders. Okay.
I don't like snakes. There was a song about that someplace. I don't like spiders and snakes.
I just don't like spiders. I mean, that's not my fear. I just don't like them, period.
And some of them are very beneficial, but some of them are venomous. So be careful out there. Okay.
Wow. We've got other things to be talking about, too, you know, we've got.
Besides spiders and creepy crawlies. Ooh, that just makes your.
Can you imagine a spider crawling on your back and you can't get to it? That drive you crazy, wouldn't it? Well, let's take a look at the national debt here, and I'll put that up on the screen. The big thing with the national debt is it keeps getting worse because Congress likes to spend money and hopefully I can get that up there. There we go. The national debt. You take a look at it. It's live. Okay. National debt clock.org.
the us national debt is $35 trillion and climbing. It's actually 35,150,237,000,000. Almost 238 million. Coming up very quickly. There goes. And the debt per citizen is $104,241. And per taxpayer, it's $268,258. Do you have that kind of money to throw around?
Then you better tell Congress to stop spending. They have to stop spending. They're spending our tax money and wasting it.
So tell your congressman, if you want to get reelected again, guess what?
You watch your spending.
The us federal spending, which is official, is 6,859,628,000,400. And I'll just call it 500,000.
And I'll tell you what. Now that's. But that's bad, okay? And it's bad news. Right now, our GDP debt to GDP ratio is 122.95%. That means we have over spent.
When you hit 100%. It's a break. Even when you hit 122, you're 22.95% over spent. So tell Congress to stop spending your money. You're paying taxes. It's not being spent wisely according to some. And so it's got to stop. Okay? I mean, that's just a fact of life.
I'm sorry, guys, but that, that's just the way I look at it. They're overspending everything.
They don't know when to, you know, a drunken sailor knows when to stop spending. You know why? Because they run out of money.
Congress doesn't.
It's a crazy world out there.
I'll tell you what, when you talk about inflation, that's out there. And let me bring that up on the screen too, because the inflation part, we're going to talk about that.
And when you talk about inflation, it's kind of scary. And you take a look at some of the data that I'm picking up lately and here it is on the screen. You see the inflation data. Retail sales, Walmart earnings await a jumpy stock market. And what to know this week. And it came up in Yahoo. Finance. Okay, you take a look at what's on the screen and it's constantly changing. 0.4%. It was 0% in June, now it's 0.4%. Okay. That's the sales estimate of. Okay, so it's right there.
Now if we could do this, let's just see if we can, see if you can listen to what it's saying.
I don't know.
It isn't saying, is it?
Well, anyhow, getting down to the report, it says a volatile week of trading action on Wall street saw the stock market finish this week at just about where it left off last Friday. Panic hit financial markets on Monday as the unwinding of the yen over in Japan carry trade spike volatility after investors rapidly move to price in higher odds of a recession and further easing from the Federal Reserve following last week's July jobs report.
Lousy jobs report.
We've got Japan having financial difficulties and that's going to affect stuff here. Matter of fact, it started to affect things a couple of days later.
I don't know where it's going to go, but if you're not preparing, you're going to be in trouble.
Pay down your debt. Patara talks about this.
Amber stork talks about this. Pay down your debt so you don't owe anything.
Put some money aside, save some money. Buy some long term food, canned goods, freeze dried, frozen, whatever.
Make sure it lasts and start building it up. And you don't have to do this in one fell swoop. All you have to do is five cans a week and start building it up. Now, if everything goes down the tubes in a hurry, you could be in trouble. And the social agencies and the government are not going to help people out. You are going to be on your own, just like they were during Katrina, like when they were when New Orleans was flooded. It was bad news.
And it took forever for the government to get there. Let's face it, they're not going to help you. You will be on your own. So you better prepare. So if you go to the grocery store and you can only afford five cans this week, five cans next week, five cans next week, you get 20 cans of food.
20 cans of food can probably feed a family of four if you stretch it out.
Pasta.
Buy plenty of pasta.
Rice, beans, canned soups, canned vegetables, canned meats.
You know, I keep talking about keystone meats.
You have the meat product and a little thing of salt. That's it. There's nothing else added to it.
It's canned meat.
You can get beef. You can get chicken, turkey and pork and hamburger in a can.
And I'll tell you what, one of the biggest things, if you're feeding a bunch of people and you just decide to have people overdose, everybody likes beef and noodles.
All you have to do is open up a big can of keystone beef and that. Add that to your drained noodles and you have beef and noodles.
Oh, yeah. And it's good. I've done it several times. Same thing with turkey, the same thing with chicken.
It's a good product and it's not all that expensive. The prices have gone up a little bit, but it's still very good. And it's long term. Normally on those cans, as long as they're not dented and they don't bulge, they're going to be good for five years, maybe six, maybe more, depending on how they're stored, what the temperature is, and hopefully they're not damaged.
But prepare. Buy long term food. Make sure you have water. One gallon per person per day, minimum, absolute minimum.
If you really want to figure on this, figure in five gallons per day per person and you'll be okay.
You can get bottled water. You could get your water put into barrels.
I mean, I've got 255 gallon barrels full of fresh water, and I put fresh water in every year. Seal them back up and it's good in an emergency. I've got that. I've got bottled water. I've got different types of filters. I've got a Berkeley water filter and I use that every day. And all I have to do is run my water, tap water through that Berkeley filter and, and I get pure water that just doesn't taste like it's got any chemicals in it at all.
Besides that, it keeps me from tying my tongue when I talk on this show.
Well, anyhow, last week in the latter part of the week, according to the reports, the market course corrected as new data on the weekly unemployment benefits cooled and fears that the US economy was rapidly spinning towards a downturn.
And the whipsaw action left stocks nearly flat on the week, despite opening Monday sharply in the red. And for the week, the S and P standard imports was 500 was unchanged, while Nasdaq Composite fell less than 0.2%. The Dow Jones industrial average fell about 0.6% and so forth.
Watch the stocks and the stock market I talked about last week, Warren Buffett just sold off a bunch of his Apple stock. He must know something is coming because he sold off a lot of his stock and what he did was to actually put that into other things like precious metals or into pure cash.
I don't know why he's dump, you know, dumping apple.
I believe it's APL in the stock market exchange.
But watch what Warren Buffett does. And if you see what he does and you can mimic what he does, he hasn't lost money, okay? The guy's a very smart investor, so you want to follow him like a hawk.
And all of a sudden, if the stocks suddenly take off and they zoom way up, be careful of the dead cat bounce, that means the stocks will zoom to high places, okay? And all of a sudden they drop out and it's like dropping a dead cat. It drops, goes whoop, and maybe a slight bump and that's it. Everything's crashed.
So you have to be prepared. That's why I keep saying prepare. Pay down your debt, buy some long term food. Make sure you put some money aside a little bit each week.
Make sure that you have the clothing that you need, your medications that you need, shelter, okay? Plastic tarps from Home Depot, they come into play.
Lowe's, I believe. Even Wally world.
You know what Wally world is?
Walmart.
Yep.
Or you can go other places. The blue plastic tops, they work. I know a millionaire that had his house hit by a freak storm. And big mansion, I mean a big mansion on the lake, and it just ripped up part of his tile roofing. He put blue tarp on. He was on there for a year. He was trying to fight with the insurance agency to get things fixed.
I won't go into the rest of it because it got a little bit humorous. But anyhow, the blue tarps were on and suddenly they were off and a new roof was up, I'll put it that way. But anyhow, watch the markets, okay? Maybe this next week they will start to go up and maybe they will zoom upward. But be preparing because you never know what can happen and a dead cat bounce can happen and all of a sudden everything is just in trouble. Watch your banks.
See how indebted the banks are, how many defaulted loans they have.
You need to have some money available. If the markets suddenly go bad, the banks crash. Do you have money at home? Because credit cards aren't going to work.
Trust me, if things go down, credit cards don't work, you won't be able to buy anything anywhere on credit.
It's going to be cash and cash only.
Now, if you want to put your money into precious metals, if we have time, we'll talk about that. You can go to AP M ex, you can go to silver.com, a host of other places. Just make sure that they're reputable. Look at their prices. Okay?
It's going to get scary out there, guys. And I don't care if you don't listen to Patara, if you don't listen to Amber stork or anybody else, even Dave Kohler, if you don't listen to anybody and you're not preparing, you're in trouble, okay? That's what's going to happen.
Well, let's see here. I've got a constantly, check this screen because I keep changing things.
We've got another thing. Let's see here.
Hey, have you ever heard of a trillion dollar coin?
Well, there it is. Supposedly this was in zero hedge and it was Mike Meharry at money metals, and he's talking about a trillion dollar coin.
It's a dumb idea that some government people take seriously.
You know, gold is what's basically used gold and silver.
Now, what would they use for a trillion dollar coin and how big would that coin be?
Mike Meharry said, when I was seven years old, my friend Tommy and I decided we were going to dig a cave and we envisioned a massive cavern we could stand up in, and it would be our secret fort. Everybody likes the secret fort.
And it went as far as digging a pretty deep hole in Tommy's backyard. Well, it was a dumb idea because then he got to try to get out of the hole.
But our cave building scheme wasn't nearly as down as the notion that simply minting a trillion dollar coin can solve the american debt problem.
And the idea is pretty simple. The US treasury could mint a $1 trillion platinum coin deposited at the Federal Reserve and the federal government would write the checks against that asset. Oh, and the budget problem is solved wrong.
Documents obtained by Bloomberg investigative journalist Jason Leopold revealed that the government officials discussed the feasibility of minting a trillion dollar coin on at least two occasions in 2013 and 2015.
And there was a heavily redacted memo in 2013.
Treasury Department officials and Department of Justice lawyers discussed the legality of doing that.
That doesn't solve the problem.
The problem is easily solved. Stop printing money.
Stop over spending.
Don't give it away to other countries. Spend it here. Fix our country first and then spend it elsewhere. Oh, is that a political statement?
I don't think so.
It's only common sense. You know, like I said, drunken sailors know when to quit. That's when they run out of money. Right?
Politicians. I'll tell you guys, sometimes it gets scary. Well, let's see here. We've got other things to present, too, because we do. And what do we have on the docket? The next thing up, the bank of America CEO, the chief executive officer, says.
Well, he says the us consumers could become discouraged unless the rate drops soon.
Yeah, it's got to drop. Well, let's see. I want to make sure this is up on the screen. There it is.
I'm going to have to have several more monitors to see what's going on here. But according to the Reuters report, the bank of America has a problem here. If the US Federal Reserve does not start cutting interest rates relatively soon, us consumers could become dispirited. Bank of America CEO Brian Moynihan said Sunday.
That's today.
At the end of July, the Fed kept the policy rate in the same 5.25% to 5.50% range it has been for more than a year. But it signaled that a rate could come, a rate cut could come as soon as September. Well, gee whiz, the election is happening in November.
Oh, yeah. So let's drop the rates, give everybody a false sense of security, and let them go out and spend, spend, spend.
The housing market has kind of slowed quite a bit.
You go to a car lot and take a look at the cars that are in the car lot, look at the number of used cars, the new cars and so forth.
Look at the new homes that are being built right now. How many businesses have gone bankrupt or are going bankrupt, whether it's chapter seven or chapter eleven, I think, is the final.
A lot of different things out there. And I'll tell you what, everybody's kind of pinning themselves on a Federal Reserve rate cut.
What happens if the Fed doesn't do it?
What happens?
More inflation. Right.
Okay. Hey, what's the average car payment?
What do you, what do you pay for car payment?
Do you pay with cash?
Well, let's see here.
According to clark.com, clark Howard, there was an article written by Craig Johnson on his website. It said, what's the average car payment in America?
And he said that the average car payment in America right now for a new car is $740 a month, a record high, according to Edmunds.
Edmunds.
And that's a $5 uptick from the previous quarter.
And the Edmunds data also indicate that the share of people paying over $1,000 a month for their new vehicle fell just one percentage point from tying an all time high.
And according to the report, more people paying $1,000 plus for a monthly car payment.
That's. That's crazy. That's insane.
17.8% of consumers financed a new vehicle with a monthly car note of $1,000 or more in the second quarter, just shy of a record 17.9% share in the fourth quarter of 2023.
Now, Clark Howard always says the longest auto loan you should ever take out is 42 months.
I've heard of some people doing 72 months. I've heard of people leasing cars, and there's good and bad points to doing that. But Clark says, if you can't afford the payment on a 42 month loan, then you should not buy that car. You should buy a cheaper car.
So if you can't afford a Buick, buy a Ford or Chevy.
If you can't afford the payment, don't get into debt because they'll get repossessed. The bank gets them back.
Now, that's a good time to buy a car. When they're repossessed and they're repossessed in good shape. If you talk to the bank, you might be able to pick it up a lot cheaper. But if you're buying a cardinal, try to pay the least that you can possibly pay for the total cost of that car. You're going to have to sit there, and you're going to have to talk to the car dealer, and you're going to have to really work a deal with them. And sometimes it takes an hour to 2 hours to do it. I know. I've done it many years ago before I got my Buick, which I got at a very special deal, and it was loaded.
I had a car that was a Hyundai. It was a very nice car. It was loaded.
I knew what that price of that car was and versus what they wanted for the car.
And I knew that if I took the MSRP, subtracted out the cost of transporting the car and a few other little things, I came up with a price. I took 90% of that, and that was my price that I was willing to pay on that car.
And I sat there basically for an hour and a half. And finally the salesman said, I'll go to my sales manager and see what he can do. And he went over and he talked to him for about 15 minutes and came back and he said, we're close.
And I said, not as close as I want to be.
And I pulled out my checkbook, and I said, look, I can write you a check right now for this price. And I pointed to the price I was going to offer him, or else I can take my checkbook, I can walk out the door, I can go ahead and drive 45 miles to a different dealer that I've already talked to. I can lay that checkbook down, he will give me that price, and I'll go ahead and write them the check for the car.
Now, I didn't tell them it would probably cost me $100 more, but I was working a deal with them, and I was a hard deal.
And finally, after we signed the papers and everything, and I didn't buy all the extra insurance and so forth, I had everything covered. I got him to the point where he said, do you know you were within a couple of dollars?
And I said, I know exactly where I was at.
Oh, yeah. Do your homework.
Don't pay any more for a car, a new car, a used car, any car, before you do your homework. Okay. Hey, there was another thing I wanted to cover here, if I can hit the right button.
So cars and car deals and so forth, I wanted to do budgeting. You know, we always talked about budgets, and I've got to talk about budgets because I just have to. Because if we don't talk about budgets and budgeting, we haven't done our job. Okay.
When you get stuff, do you budget your money every monthly? See, there's a pie chart there, and you have different things that you want to save for, you know, whether or not it's the house, the education, paying the utility bills, the car, food, whatever. Do you budget?
Michelle Lambright Black wrote this article in Yahoo finance. And I'll tell you what you need to budget, okay? And it's a written plan that you use.
Do you know how to use a profit and loss statement in business? Do you know how to do simple addition subtraction? Okay? Do you know how to take your paycheck and divide up everything you want to establish your goals? You want to calculate what income you get. You take your gross that you get paid and then you subtract out all your taxes and everything. And that's your net.
Take that net, your final after taxes and everything have been taken out. Take that amount of money and calculate your income and then make a budget. You can do a 50 30 20 rule or a zero base budget, okay? And that's a management strategy that gives every dollar you earn a job, such like paying bills, paying down debt or saving towards your emergency fund. Do you have an emergency fund? You ought to. What happens if your car breaks down?
You know, you take 50%, for example, of your income and that should pay for your housing, that should pay for your utilities and so forth. Then 30% for your food and other incidentals, and then 20% goes into savings. Set up a separate savings account and that out of that 20%, you can take 10% of that then and make it an emergency fund. So if your car breaks down, you have some money to get it fixed. Okay?
And you can do spreadsheet budgets in excel or numbers or, you know, Google documents, whatever. You can do that include your monthly expenses, you know, your bills, your debt, your essential needs, your discretionary spending, your savings.
You create fixed expenses, things that you have to pay every month, every week. Then you have your variable expenses and then develop your savings. Okay, you can do that, but you have to learn to budget. If you don't budget, you're always going to be in debt.
And being in debt is not fun. It's very hard to dig out of it.
Wow.
We've talked about the trillion dollar coin. We've talked about budgeting.
How about precious metals? I'm going to talk about precious metals just a little bit before we close the show.
Why? Because precious metals, you need to look into that type of thing.
If you don't have any spare money, then just put your money into food, water, you know, your essentials to prep for. Okay?
But if you have spare money around it, I'm just, I've got apmex up here because I have a chart.
Follow my pointer. I'm on gold right now. I'm going to make sure that it's up there. There it is. Okay.
You take a look at your precious metals in time of calamity like problems, inflation, whatever.
If we have a bank run downturn in finances or the economy or whatever, precious metals are a hedge against that calamity.
Not everybody has $2,444.60 for gold. The price on gold just went up. It's $7.30. Went up 0.29%.
But a lot of people have money for silver. And you can get silver coins for basically $27.66 an ounce.
Gold at over $2,444 an ounce. So silver is a little bit more expensive. You can get gold in one 10th ounces, which would be about 300, and maybe $20 a coin. Silver, on the other hand, the price on silver is 27 66, but they didn't mine as much. So now there's a different fee included. So you could be paying $35 to $38 a coin. That would be an ounce for an american eagle. Platinum is $939.30. It went down $9.60. Okay. And then there's palladium, but that's industrial stuff. You can go to apmex. You can go to silver.com.
a lot of different places. I'm just using this as an example. But make sure that they have really good security when you go ahead and get your coins, okay? Lock them up in a safe place.
Wow, guys, we're just about done.
And I'll tell you what, pay down your debt. Put some money aside by long term foods.
Plenty of water. Five gallons a day per person is fantastic. Minimum of $1.01 gallon per person. Make sure you have your medications.
Make sure you have a good first aid kit, okay?
Make sure you have some spare gasoline stored appropriately for your car. Okay. Well, anyhow, guys, that's all I've got for this week. Next week, guess what? Another live show with money and change.
